Hello,

I just acquired another set of Beolab 4000 which I plan to wall mount in my bedroom. I am thinking of wall mounting them horizontally (i.e. the frets facing the floor) but have now seen picture of people wall mounting them vertically (i.e. frets facing the walls).

Is it pure aesthetics or will it make any difference to the sound (apart from the direction of the sound of course). Btw, I am planning to mount them close to the ceiling.

Any thoughts?

Best regards,

Martin

B&O have many pairs of 4000s around Struer. Most seem to be mounted horizontally. I have both my pairs mounted vertically. I think aesthetics will be the most important factor!

Definitely estetics, but most of mounted pairs i saw were horizontaly. Verticaly is more for floor standers. Imo.

One technical difference that comes to mind is that if you need to install them high up, they can be aimed to a downwards angle if you mount them horizontally. Mounted vertically, you would have to install them relatively low or live with the sweet spot being somewhere next to the ceiling.

I have installed mine horizontally (as rear speaker) 1,8m above the floor in order to have the sound direction pointing to the sweet spot.

Went for horizontal mount.

Probably B&Os most beautiful speakers and the sound is fantastic.

Thanks for the input!

Marexy, best put this request in the 'wanted' section otherwise it will get missed.  There are some on eBay at the moment though:

It may only be available to Silver and Gold members!

Beoworld Private sales.

On the front of the forum page.  Scroll down the page a bit and on the right hand side there is a section for placing wanted adds.  A forum for eBay right and wrong, Beoworld sales and Beoworld wanted.

Dave.
