Hi

Am looking at a new DVD player soon. Wondering if people had suggestions for a good player. Price point around 1000 GBP ( 1500 euro  )

Thanks

Search for a Panasonic DVD/HDD recorder; top quality, and often sold second hand in as-good-as-new-condition. Price around 300 euro's new, 80-100 euro's used.

For me the PS3 is a very potent option, although I guess it may not be considered high-end.

Oppo Players are said to be good.

But: why spend that much Money on a DVD Player?
Why not go for a higher Resolution - Bluray?
I know it all depends on your set-up...

Price point 1500€ - a new DVD player?

I do not know of any DVD player that cost that much!

If money isn't the problem, buy the OPPO103.

Just bought the OPPO103.

Great player! Huge improvement over my old Panansonic Bluray Player.

Imac,

Have you got the B&O version of the Oppo (without the Oppo logo on the screen) ?

Do you control it with your Beo4 ?

I have the regular version, not the B&O version.  I decided against the B&O version as I wanted to make sure that I will receive all the software updates on time. My dealer wasn't sure if the B&O version is updated on the same basis.

I control everything with my Beo4. Works really well. Much better than my old Panansonic. B&O seems to have put some extra effort into the programming of the control, since they recommend this player.

Excuse my ignorance, but does B&O sell a re-badged oppo as their own device?

Sorry - should have clarified - by "DVD player" I meant a blu ray player.

Thanks for the "clarification" Smile

The 'B&O OPPO" is a regular OPPO Player - with removed screenlogo and removed screensaver.

No rebadge about that!

But quite convenient for dealers demoing in the shops - and a must for any hardcore 'B&O'ist' at home too Big SmileBig Smile

It can only be ordered through a B&O dealer.

I've been extremely happy with my Oppo BDP-103. Outstanding image quality, fast response, and built like a tank.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

Beosound 9000, Beolab 8000s, Beogram 3000 w/MMC2, CX50s, P30s, Beovox 3000s, Beocord 3300, AV7000, Beolab 2000's,Beolink Passive & IR Eye, Beo5 and Beo4

Such devices I would expect from B&O, of course with a great design. But they aren't able to build a CD player anymore...
