Avant RF owners - Help Please!

I have a project in mind whereby I would replace the CRT in an Avant RF with an LCD screen (possibly a LCD computer monitor). I'd like to fit this behind the glass / within the CRT surround.

So I can assess the size of LCD required would any RF owners (32 and 28) mind measuring and advising what is the actual visible screen size on their sets? It's likely to be slightly smaller than 32" or 28".

I'm thinking I may be able to use a 27" LCD in a RF 28.

Any thoughts or opinions also appreciated - especially if anyone has already done this!

I was going to do this with a dead avant 32RF, I held on to the tv for a year, removed the tube, VCR, mechanics except the speakers and amps. In the end I needed space and it had to go..... I did measure and I would need a 31.5inch LCD, which you can find, but generally the cheaper brands do that size.. 

Down the track, when my house and workshop is finished, I'll try and do it again..

Came across this thread which is exactly what I’m looking to do.

thinking I could replace just the tube with a whole lcd set, and run the audio out into the Avant aux in. One would then have HDMI ports, smart tv etc, but with the Avant looks, stand and speakers.

has anyone done this?
