I'm lying in a nice hotel room in Madrid, my wife is half asleep beside me. I'm thinking about the day ahead, knowing we'll be walking down all of the streets in Sol to look at every clothing/shoe/handbag shop. So I pick up my iPhone, connect to the somewhat slow wifi connection and try to find a local B&O store so that I can have something to look forward to today.

This is when I realise that B&O doesn't have a mobile friendly site! The store locater on the main site is very slow. It uses Bing maps which are slow to load, there is no option for location services, and if you touch the screen the map goes through a reload process. It is very frustrating!

The Beoplay store site is just as bad.....

In my opinion it is very backward that B&O doesn't have an App, there isn't a mobile friendly website, and it is very difficult to find a store online with an iPhone and wifi.

Beoplay is meant to be a young brand aimed at a new generation of buyer, who live on their mobiles. Yet a visit to their site on a mobile phone is just woeful!

Bang & Olufsen needs to bring its marketing to the present, and I still need to find a local B&O store!

Enjoy Madrid Jonathan!

I haven't checked B&O site from my iPhone, will check it out.

Too long to list....

I never use store locator on the official website as it takes so long to load. I just google Bang & Olufsen of XXXXX to get an address or phone number.

It is also frustrating that with so many web browsers now available, the Bang & Olufsen web site doesn't work well in most of them inm my experience.

Sad

Madrid is good so far!

Googling to find a store is a big miss for B&O. I think it's pretty ridiculous that you need to go away from the B&O site to find one of their stores.

Hi Jonathan,

you may be right about the mobile site...

...but, if your actual problem is finding the store in Madrid, googling will do the job.

Tried on my iPad, got the location ad once - clicking took me to the 'maps app'.

No problem in that!

N.B. Exploring the B&O site om a smartphone won't be much fun anyway imo.

Enjoy Madrid - and be patient with your wife Smile

Millemissen, this is I think a major problem! Everybody has a smartphone these days, and as a portable device that fits in your pocket is a very powerful tool. For an electrical goods company, the fact that they can't even embrace one of the most common technology forms is pretty disappointing.

From a marketing perspective, the first challenge a company faces is getting a customer to visit them. This can mean either in person or online. The next challenge is to engage the customer, and show the product line effectively in order to try to make a sale. For that customer to have to leave the site, that spells a massive opportunity to lose the customer! People lose interest very quickly if their needs aren't satisfied quickly.

To have to leave the B&O site to go to google to find a store is marketing suicide in my opinion......

Googling for a store is not very accurate at the moment. Since B&O closed down so many stores recently, and all websites, maps, shop listing, etc. may not be updated, there is a high risk that you will be heading for a closed store.

I have to agree that B&O´s store locator sucks (when using a mobile unit).

A long list...

If this is how I feel, imagine how a non enthusiast would feel. I'm sure they'd give up a lot faster than I would!!!

As big a B&O fan as I am, I think there will be many things of beauty in Madrid to see out on such a sunny day.

Just don't get caught :-)

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Tried the Store Locator (first time ever) on my iPad - with Safari.

It does exactly what is supposed.

On the iPhone it would work the same way - only smaller.

I don't have a Smartphone!!!

May depend on which Smartphone you have/which browser you use.

But I agree, a B&O app would be nice.

I can confirm the site sucks on a mobile device, and the maps are useless, I tried looking for the Sydney stores a few months ago. And using google isn't ideal, as stores either close or relocate and it's never updated properly.

Google Bang & Olufsen Gold Coast. It still has some places saying it exists.

I agree with you in whom B&O should take care more of his mobile sites.

And speaking about Madrid the best solution for you can be the shop of Bang and Olufsen Jardín de Serrano, street Goya 6, near Serrano street, where your wife while can buy a heap of bags and shoes. Good luck!
