Refoaming and restoring my CX 100s

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
It has been a few years but I remember it not being too difficult a job to refoam. I used clothespins to hold everything in place.
The hard part was stripping all the old black paint off and polishing up the bare aluminum... but it was worth ti. they look so much better.

Will go at the boxes mañana, found all my special tools for foaming. Here shimming, 0.1 mm gap
Glued to basket, left to dry
Dust cap back on
All 4 finished, tools and the necessary cuba, tomorrow the boxes and one cap in the crossover
Finished both today, new caps, polished the cabinets to my very best, but even so there are some scratches left, new fret fabric, they sound good though. Connected to my BM 4400, radio station, let play a little on volume 2, increased to 4, then full bass, then to volume 6, they are a little bright, but with the bass on full and treble on -2 they work for me, showed them to my wife, she likes them, speakers on a diet she said.

Now all you need is the matching Beovox Cona in gray to complete the set. adds a little extra dimension to the sound.

3 years ago I was a newbie, got the Virus and the rest is history, click on my name there are links to what I did until now more or less.
Love Thailand by BTW, Installed printing machines there, Bangkok, and made a vacation in Phuket by Danish friends.
You must have a lot more problems getting vintage, than I do here in Mexico.
it is difficult but i have a lot of visitors from the u.k. so i buy from ebay and get them delivered to their home address and they go in the suitcase, sometimes i wait months for purchases to actually arrive but saying that i have been looking at a beocord 1900 to go with the beomaster 1900 i found in an auction here a few weeks ago
anyhow i get a email the other day to say someone is arriving friday, do i need anything, so i purchased that last night and only have a few days to wait
last week i was given a beogram 3300 someone bought in a job lot and didn't need so i am playing with that now to see if it is will be worth salvaging

My CX50's are currently in my girls' room being driven by an NAD 7140 receiver. They watch movies on their computer with that system, plus the occasional LP on my second RX 2 turntable.
Connected to my BM 4000, high filter on, loudness on, record Sam Cook on BG 5000 SMMC4 and they sound just perfect, amazing small power boxes. I now understand why they reach so high prices on the bay, got them cheap though

They are a really good looking set of small speakers. I always have a set out on view even though I dont really use them that much anymore
But here is a suggestion - I did use them as the ambio side speakers on my 4000 some time ago. Perhaps the 3702 as fronts and the CX as rear /sides would work well together.
I tried CX50s and S40s as ambios with M70s as fronts with my BM4000.

I have tried 5/1 surrund with BL8000 front BL4000 back, black side center, and all other speaker combinations I could think of, this over an Onkyo amp/rec.
Now I have Beovox 3702 front 1 BL4000 center, black side sub (only for movies) all other systems are Stereo only. I´m not going to try out the ambio, tired of pulling cables all over the place.
CX for kids, you are kidding me, these small boxes are same or better than my panel Beovox 3000, agree I must tweak a little with sound adjustment, but I like them very much.
I would have to agree with you. I have a few pair of CX100s and really like their sound. They are an impressive little speaker.

I must disagree. I first got a pair of CX75 but to my surprise i found them to very thin and flat in the sound stage. Surprised cause I,ve read so much positive comment on them. Later I've got a pair of C100 which i found much better. I did a side by side test, hokked up to my BC9500 and found the C100 to give a much bigger sound, more distinct and deeper bass. Both speakers performed well in the mids & treble.
On this test the CX75 performed better than I found in the earlier tests, possibly due to another location (living room against cellar) and another amplifier (BC9500 against BM3000).

They are 'chained to' the cupboard - even my wife could not remove them

I will consider these these for the grand children or maybe let them get "chained" in the kitchen, but first they go to the workbench as test speakers.
I have them in the dining room now, in sight from the living room and I like the look of them, the brushed aluminum and black frets a very nice combination.
