I received this as a Christmas present and have finally finished my exams so have time to mess about with it. I understand that the 1600 has an internal amp. So I haven't powered it up yet because I'm aware that you should have speakers connected to an amp whilst powered. Am I right? I don't actually have any speakers handy to plug in. Is it possible to purely use headphones? Also might seem an odd question but is it possible to plug the speaker output into another amp ?
Welcome to the forum, If you dont know if the 1600 worked before, the best way to check it, is to open it before connecting, check for correct voltage, check fuses, and check for strange objects inside, check belts, connect over a dimbulb tester if available.
You can connect the speaker outs to an other amp, but start on low volume on the 1600 and the connected amp.
No speaker connection needed to power up, and yes you can test with headphones
