Well, after setting their sights firmly on the Chinese luxury market Bang & Olufsen are probably choking on their pastries this morning to read that China are pulling back the reins in their economic boom, fuelled by cheap lending. Shares have slid, people are getting jumpy - so does this mean China will be 'calming down' - just as B&O enter the market late (as usual) ?

When has it ever been good to put all your money on one horse...
Too long to list....
A few things to remember.
China's population is 1.3 billion.
European Union population is 503 million.
The Chinese economy might be pulling back but it is still the second largest economy in the world. Japan is number 3. Tue's plan is still valid although late.
As for North America, we have a few people who can afford Bang and Olufsen products. However the brand remains largely unknown. The only advertisements I have seen recently was in some airline magazines for the A9. B&O has a lot of work to do and this work is indeed a daunting task.
This probably means that the number of Chinese millionaires will be down to 950 thousand from one million. Doomsday!
It's not the rich who will lose money when a recession hits. It's the middle and low income folks that get to pay for the mistakes made by the politicians and bankers.

I think a cheap way to get noticed in the US is to have the products reviewed in US audio magazines. Seeing the BeoLab 5 reviewed in Sound and Vision (formerly Stereo Review) is how I found out about the product and company. I have seen (I think) two other BeoLab 5 reviews in US audio magazines, but no other products.

In Sound and Vision, there was a comment that a recent speaker by Meridian (I think) reminded them of the appearance of B & O speakers. There was also a picture of the portable music player that B & O came out with recently (the one that looks like a picnic basket).
