Hi all.

My beogram 5005 has recently developed a problem.  Whilst playing a record the tone arm doesn't track along with the record.  The arm pivots as far as it can reach but the tracking mechanism stays put.  The arm moves properly with the lift and turn buttons.  Any advice would be great.  Is it something that can be fixed by myself?

Welcome to Beoworld !

Sounds like either the tracking lamp, the LDR or something in the electronics have gone wrong.
I would check the parts in that order.

I had same problem once. Bad LDR. If you take platter out, you can measure lamp with ohmmeter between ground and P6-6, on location it should be somewhere 300 ohm. LDR is easiest measure wiht voltmeter between R50 ans R51. There should be notealbe change when pushing ard towards center, several volts.

Best way to put player in "test position" is remove belt, push center down, push play and by hand turn underplatter until arm is correct play position. Beware of needle here.

Not easiest, so be sure it is the problem. You have to remove toptrim from player, two srews backside. Then remove arm topcover, three srews, marked red on picture

Then you can see little board on right, marked blue. It has lamp on left, marked red, and LDR on right (this individual dont have that part), place marked on green.

Very carefully job!

Thanks.  Now just need to find a replacement part.  Any suggestions where to look/obtain one.

Many thanks.
