I have a problem with my Beolab 4500 speaker. One of them won't turn on the red stand by light when I turn my system off. But if I turn this speaker into stand by mode with the switch on the left side of the speaker, the red light turns on.
Does anyone know what kind od problem this is?

Sounds like it doesn't turn off at all. How are they connected to the amp (Powerlink / Speakerlink / line?) and does the display work normally?

They are conected via masterlink to Avant DVD. Display and speaker works fine!!
OK... do you hear the power relay clicking when you turn the speaker off normally (compare to how the other speaker sounds)?

The switch you are talking about must be the Video-Audio-Off mode switch on the side of your BL4500.
In your setup it should be set to "Video" . Are the speakers daisy chained or both connected directly to the Avant?

I think you mean Powerlink, not Masterlink...?

Yes...sorry for those errors in my text! But I did not find the right words in english!:-)
The mode switch is on both speakers set to video. And they are of course connected via Powerlink to Avant DVD. But the speakers are daisy chained and not both connected to the Avant. The one speaker which has this red light problem is the one which is directly connected to the Avant.
The speaker which shows the stand-by light does make a clicking noise more before it shows the red light, which the other speaker does not.
If I set the mode switch on both speakers to stand-by, both will show the stand-by light.

With no click, the speaker apparently really is staying on all the time. I guess there's still a chance that this could be a cabling problem...
If you disconnect both Powerlink cables from the problematic speaker, does it stay in standby even when the switch is at "video"?
That`s what I think too - could be a Powerlink-cable problem...(?)
Older Beolabs, like the 4500, need fully wired PL cable. They need a 5V signal on PIN 1 and PIN 4. One is for Standby, the other for Mute.
What happens if you press Mute?
Did your setup stop working properly suddenly after working for a long time, or did you just install the system and it didn`t work from start?
Can you try to connect both BLs to your Avant directly?

The speaker realy was not in stand-by for several weeks! As I disconnected the Powerlink cables the speaker did go into stand-by.
The odd thing is the following: As I took the speaker away from its bracket it switched to stand-by with a click and the red light! And as I moved it backwards and forewards the speaker clicked, clicked, clicked and the stand-by light was going on and off!! Very strang behaviour! Perhaps a defective contact???
Now the speaker sits on its wall bracket and goes to stand-by! I realy don't know what the matter is...or was.:-)

Uh...I did find an other fault in my B&O system! Haha...
I have bought a Beogram CD 4500 and it seems it has problems finding tracks!!??!
Sometimes it even won't play the first track of a CD. If a step to track 2 it will play track 2. And...if I press for example 9 on the remote the Beogram seems not to find track 9. Then I need to step all the Discs track until 9! Any idea how to fix this?
Its my first CD player with a problem....:-)
