Look's like some bidding war has taken place. One newbie then outbid.

Maybe I should just sell my original MMC2 instead of having it retipped by Axel if that is the current going rate.

I don't know why anyone would buy a broken cartridge, but to each his own I guess.

On the other hand, I have noticed on Ebay that used cartridges have recently been on the higher side in price.  A recent MMC4 just sold for $200.  Perversely, an MMC3 the next day went for a few dollars less.

A used MMC4 would sell for about $90 in 2011.  I know:  I bought 2.

Someone who clearly has not done their research to discover the body and internal components are identical between cartridge types :-(

If you check prices the Soundsmith MMC2 is 600 USD, repair of a MMC2 by Axel is USD 330 or 260 not sure if the USD 330 is MMC1. the winner bought for USD 150, repair by Axel is + 330 = USD 480, or + 260 = USD 410, so if he repairs by Axel he is still good with some USD 120, and it comes back with MMC2 on it, i dont care if my cartridge shows MMC2, but some people do.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Despite the math/economics, I think I'd buy new from Soundsmith. But that's me. I've bought new from Peter and had the pleasure of speaking with him.

I don't see what Soundsmith have got to do with it!

Axel will charge 179 Euros to repair your own MMC2 to original spec and 245 Euros for one of his MMC2's that he has already repaired. A difference of 66 Euros.

The one you buy on eBay for 118.45 Euros  is not even guaranteed to work on both channels or indeed, work at all!

Very poor value, in my opinion.
