Hello!

I-ve just been given a wonderful BeoVision Avant! And even without working its just beautiful to look at! :)

There are some problems and I dont know where to start to make a diagnostics of what maybe wrong.

when I turn it on, the LED display works fine, when I press the LOAD button the DVD loader opens, and closes, and goes into DVD mode. I think thne the system is blocked and crashs as none of the buttons work anymore and I have to turn it off on the mains. The TV it self never turns on! I can here the relay clicking when I press TV or DVD on the Beo4, but nothing, So iam assuming there's a problem with the power supply for the screen? Also the stand does not rotate if I use the Beo4: List>Stand> >> or  <<. So that seems to be related to the lack of power on a part of the system. Because the LED display and buttons are working I feel there-s hope. What to do next?

Give it back and buy one that works?!?! :) They are so cheap to pick up now I am quite sure it would cost you more to investigate/put in a new chassis - did you thank the person who gave it to you or did they pay you for taking a broken Avant RF off of your hands?!!

He did say it was given to him, I would assume given in that condition. Otherwise he would most likely talked to the previous owner before here.

It is probably a project for him.

Well it might e cheaper to buy a workin used one, it wont be as cheap to ship it, as you might know, its a 2 man job to lift this black monolith. So, I think I can fix it, cheaper than to get a used one. there are not that many BeoVision owners where I live. Its is also a way to learn a bit! :) There-s also a bit of sentimental reasons, this BeoVision was bought back in 2001 because I sugested it, so it makes sense that it finally comes back to me! :) I-ve consulted with some people around, and it seems to be the "line transformer"? I have no idea what that is, but I'll find out soon. :)

Make sure you have checked all the obvious things. There is a switch below bottom right of screen that can get pressed by accident when lifting/ moving the TV.

Turning off at the mains will also put the TV into WAIT mode and you will only get a few attempts at the PIN before it all goes off again.
