I've recently purchased 2nd hand a Beocenter 1 and a Beovision 1. Disaster struck when I realised the glass contrast screen on the Beocenter broke in the boot of the car on the way home. My mistake to transport face down. Anyway the plan is to now remove the screen from the beovision and fit to the Beocenter. The service manual shows to turn 2 screws below the screen 90 degrees then pull them down then remove the screen. But where I think the screws should be there are 2 plastic circular pieces that I can't seem to do anything with. I've tried prising with a screwdriver as these may just be screw covers but they won't budge and I don't want to damage the surround which I'm beginning to do even with the smallest of flat blade screwdrivers.

Has anyone done this before who can offer any advice?

Many thanks in anticipation.

I have exactly the same issue. Glass is broken into two pieces, left and right - I with great difficulty scored the circular plastic piece until I got it out - the righthand side - and it made no difference whatever. The side attachments are as attached as ever. The glass will not come away at all. So much for the instructions in the service manual! It's poor.

As far as I recall, the screens are NOT interchageable!

They are slightly different physically and the Beovision screen does NOT have the little window in the front lower portion of the screen or it's in the wrong place or something.  I am afraid my memory is going!!

I have a replacement Beovision 1 screen in stock and I had to buy a new one for a Beocenter, my pocket distinctly remembers that!!!!

The instructions for transporting these sets are quite clear and have been discussed on this forum often. On their sides only.

Thanks for that advice Graham. I would have thought them the same. The burning question remains though - how do you get the broken screen off?

Beocenter1/beovision1 cannot be transported with frontglass down, only backcover down to left or right

to pull out contrastscreen you have to take of backcover,  2 srews up in middle inside the handle and 2 downside cover

lift out lower part 45 dgr and pull up and off,  then you have 4 screws (2 up and 2 down) then lift glass right up and out

Thanks for that - I'll give it a go on Monday. May have to replace the glass with a flexible piece of perspex if spare part unavailable or too expensive. Regards, Geoff

Hi Blidge,
Beocenter 1 and Beovision 1 have (not in size but in fitting and display-windows) a total different screen and different mountings.
At the Beovision you have to  click two screws left & right above the speaker-corners at the front-outside.
Than you lower these screws with gently force about one inch, and the screen is to pull off in the forward direction.
For the Beocenter, you open the back-cover and you disconnect the screen by  removing 4 screenfitting-screws at the far left -& rightsites inside the frame and behind the screen-wings.
Instructions are in the Service manuals.

Beovision 1 and Beocenter 1-screens are NOT interchangable!
