If, as seems likely, my next TV will be a Panasonic Plasma, I want to retain my Beo4 for my other B&O equipment and the Panasonic as I don't want to go for universal remotes.
This will mean purchasing the Lintronics TT455-RT-238 which I know other members have used successfully. However I am conscious that there appear to be some 'issues' with the control of plasma TVs which require Lintronic accessories to overcome. I have no problem with this, IF they work successfully.
Have any of you used the TT455-RT-238 to control a Panasonic plasma and if so, can you reassure me that the setup works successfully.
Thanks.
Hi kokomo,
I can confirm it works like a charm. I'm using the Lintronic box to control a Panasonic VT30. As there are plenty of funtions on the VT30 remote, it will be easier to use a Beo4 Navi. Otherwise you will have to be very creative in findig the correct bottons to assign the VT30 funtions to and make it an easy to use solution.
Just have a look at the Wiki Pages covering the usage of Lintronic and you will find plenty of information:

BeoIce: What will be the TV of your choice ? Pana VT50 ? Martin
Hi Martin. Well....a good question and one that has now got me a bit stumped. I was waiting for the release of the Panasonic 2012 range and now they're here, I find that there's no 46"/47" screen size in their plasma range. 50" is just too big for me and the smaller size of 42" is a bit too small. Strangely their new 2012 LCD range has the screen size I'm looking for! I've seen one of these sets and IMO they look great.
It's all become a bit of a problem really, as I'm now thinking of their 2011 plasma range which has the screen size I want, but of course they don't have the advancements that are in the 2012 line-up.
Perhaps something other than a Panasonic? But that of course takes me away from my preferred choice of plasma and leads me to looking at products from other manufacturers.
Back to the drawing board and more on-line research I think!
A 46"/47" is missing on their line-up, that's for sure, but is there really a so huge difference between a 46" and the 50" TV ?
I would go for the new 2012 50" model instead of buying one of the old models personally. From the pictures available on the Panasonic website these new TVs look very impressive and technical progress goes on, so the new models would only be better.
My wife and I will definitly go for the 55" VT50 as our new living room is big enough. The 65" is out of our budget, 'cause we have to renovate the whole flat first. Sadly the new VT50 series are still not available in germany, but when renovation has been finished, they will be available hopefully
I think that Panasonic has the best Plasma TVs at the moment (except of course B&O )
Regards
Hi again Martin. I think this thread is drifting off the original topic somewhat!
Anyway, as for screen size, I expect you're correct, the problem is however, that I can't be sure how a 50" set will look in place until it's there. I've tried to imagine how it might be, but it's very difficult.
If I were to go for a 50" and then think - oh dear what have I done, it looks dreadful, what could I do then?
I doubt if dealers allow you to try them out for size!
Reminds me of many years back when I moved to a 28" LX B&O TV. No widescreen of course in those days, but I remember thinking how huge it looked. I soon got used to it though.
I see that we're drifting off
I asked hfat too how the -238 works with a plasma screen as I will do the same way.
I bought a second hand b&o ir-eye and am wondering how one can be sure that it is a plasma shielded/protected ir-eye ? There's no sticker and no Part.No. on mine.
