Just got a new BV12, with BS3 3D. Connected to BS3 is also BM/BS5 via ML. Before I had BV4-50 with BS3 Mk1. Here is the problem, when audio source is selected ie. CD,A.Mem or Radio- the screen also starts up, with no picture of course. In the old setup this did not happen. Is there a fault in BS3, or is there a workaround ? For sure the screen is not suppose to start up if no pictute is detected ! Powersaving is disable, and TV is in option 2. When i select audio from link room, the screen does not startup.

That sounds strange... Could there be a software bug??

This is the same BS3 that is present in the MK3 BV9 isn't it? Mine is connected by ML to a BS9000, and the screen does not turn on by the CD command. I'm sure someone will chime in, but could it be so simple as a faulty ML cable?

Too long to list....

Hi Peter

The tv shouldn't power on, unless you use the cd command for another purpose.

Look at your connection menu, maybe CD is use for an hdmi input or something else. I am not sure it is possible to select it but just check this.

Make sure that you have the correct OPTIONS setting for both audio and video.

Your BV12 is acting normal per the service guidelines listed below:

When the BeoVision 12-65 is used in a setup with Bang & Olufsen speakers and an audio master, for example BeoCenter 2, connected, the screen will switch on in all audio modes (Speaker 1-5).
It may be possible to hear a slight noise from the screen when listening to music at a low volumelevel, and you may notice a bit of light output from the screen. This is a normal behaviour of the BeoVision 12-65.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

Hi Beomegaman,

Thank you so much..Smile

I guess that answers the question, strange thou it may sound- Is there a good explanation ?

Another thing, while we are at it, somtimes when DTV is switched on it looks like it is overscaling the screen, If I then switch to another source it seams to claer ! Maybe a software bug in DVB-HD module 0.1.9.9.0

No worreis Peter,

My guess is because the BV12 can be used by itself with out any BeoLabs in the setup seeing as it has loudspeakers built-in. One would think you could work around it by telling the TV no HDMI Sound out in the service menus. That will at least kill the center speaker sound when using Speaker 2 or 4 mode. That was a big bother some time ago. As far as the overscaning you adjust that under picture I believe.

Hi Beo MegaMan

No no, it is a bug in, when i switch to another source ie. V.MEM and the back to DTV it clears ! I am sure it comes from BS3, as I

had the same problem with my BV4-50

Ok....... But why? This will result in a higher power usage, and uneccessary wear and tear to the screen. Huh?

I have to say, I agree- this must be a software bug in BS3 ! What would be the reason to power up the screen, if you want to hear radio ! Does not make sense at all. Especially when one is considering the price of this product.

^^^ I totally agree. The only thing I can think is that since the BS3 is sending out the audio to the panel via HDMI  which is then triggering it to come on. Pure speculation though. Hence my recommendation to turn off the HDMI sound for the panel in the system menus.........

if we knew what SW he was running we could dig a little deeper.

I will try the HDMI sound disable when I get back, do you know for sure that this is working ? Have you tried on another BV12. ?

BeoMegaMan, you where asking about the software. Do you mean BS3 or Dvb-hd software ?

That will take care of the issue with sound coming through on the panel itself in 2 or 4 speaker mode. As far as the panel turning off, I'm not sure. You should start with the panel software on your BS3. If you're running an old software, it would be better to start with an update from your local dealer first.

If you turn off the 'HDMI Sound', you won't have any center channel.

That would be a great sacrifice - but maybe you still have 'your BL7-4'?

Don't think you are right about this one MM, as the sound does not come from HDMI, but from Powerlink in BS3.

This is correct on the sound coming from the PL as well as the HDMI. It's just now the PL is the only source it can take the sounds from once HDMI is disengaged.

Sorry that is me not thinking correct :-(

Of cource that is no problem as long as there is a PL connected.

One only wonders why audio in the HDMI isn't disabled as default, as only video - as before with DVI - is needed.

Will be interesting to hear the answer from Struer...

...and to see how this is handled with the BSys4.

I have just tryied to remove the HDMI cable to the screen. It still starts up, if I remove the monitor cable the screen does not start up, so it must be the monitor cable going to the panel that controlles the on and off signal !

I am wondering if an external linkeye would do the job ? That is what I had on my BV4.

The answer from Struer:

In short, this os the way the product is designed, and it has no effect on the lifespan of the screen- but they are looking into a possible solution Surprise

Have they sorted out the issue with BV12-65 mk1 and BS3 mk3 where the screen is glowing grey during cinema mode?

I have a setup where the sound and picture rotates 90 degrees in cinema mode, and my 7-55 screen turns off completely - having a glowing grey screen in a dark room would be a no-go for me.

This problem can not be BV12 itself, it must be Beosystem 3 Mk3 ! Someone out there with BS3 Mk3 with a different screen, then BV12 ?
