Hello,
I got myself a beocenter 9000 a few weeks ago but unfortunately it is not working as it should.. Some of the lights are not working at all and some are a bit dimmed. (picture) The display is doing strange things as well. Is there any way I could fix it or should I find someone else to help me? Or should I sell it for a few euros and get myself another? I have zero experience in repairing electronic devices, but I am capable of solding.
I hope it can be fixed since I really like it! :-)

Now you are scaring me. Are you saying that when the electronics on the BeoCenters begin giving trouble it is best to just replace them rather than attempt to fix them? OMG, what an unsettling thought.
I was under the impression that it is the peripheral components (cassette and CD players) that are the trouble points and that the electronics are pretty much bullet proof. Not so?

Beocenter 9000 is a beautiful machine and most issues are indeed repairable and that at areasonable cost in most cases. Large parts of it are discrete builds which potentially makes repairing cheaperand spareparts plentyful.No doubt Leslie will have more than one of these Beocenters in his collection and prefer that you forget all about repairs andbuy one from him instead and a solution consisting of buying a complete replacement unit could in some cases beconsidered but, as said, most repairs are certainly no problem for a skilled repairshop.

Well Martin, we certainly can not blame Leslie for being receptive to new business.
I apparently misread Leslie’s post, believing he meant something to the effect that with the complex electronics involved with these BeoCenters that if something goes wrong it is best to sell it for what you can get and buy a better one.
It is very good to learn that these handsome units are fully repairable AND at a reasonable cost.
I am absolutely delighted with my BeoCenter 9000…. it doesn’t even need to be turned on to give pleasure as the styling is simply gorgeous.
I hope the gentleman in the Netherlands takes Leslie up on his offer for a suitable 9000 that has been properly checked out.

Leslie, what does the above mean?
I know how to do simple soldering, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say I am good at it.
Point of fact I did everything that was suggested to repair my CD unit, and as you know, I finally surrendered and accepted your donor unit….. best move I have made in years!
I am sure that my skills or lack thereof are not in question, nor of any interest to anyone. I have pretty much come to the conclusion that amplifiers exceed my meager abilities as an electronic technician.
Beograms, on the other hand, I can handle. It takes me five times longer to do what you or Martin could do, but slow as I am, I get the job done.
Now I think I should get back to working on my car. Like Beograms, with cars I have worked on carburetors, replaced brake calipers, and replaced a water pump…. but my problem is the automatic transmission, and like amplifiers, I fear this is more of an issue than I can resolve.
Much like BeoWorld I am a member of a car club that assists with owner performed repairs….. only they somehow assumed that I was capable of removing the transmission to install the part I just acquired. I ain’t and the transmission shop says it is $700 to install my kit, but if anything is seriously wrong, the bill will be over $3,000. Yikes!

Jeff, I was referring to the OP who has none zero electronic experience...
And btw, I can handle a soldering iron but that's about it. I've got other friends who does the electronic part.

You are wise to let someone else mess with the soldering. Like you, I can do it, but I hate it!
Well, I think I will send you a PM Leslie, but first I have to make some space and sell the bc9000 and some redline speakers.
I've got enough spares and might fix your BC9000.
