Having purchased a Playmaker last week, I was searching for information about Option Settings and how to 'fix' the line out level. The set-up instructions that came in the box did not cover these setting.
Searching on line, I stumbled upon this: http://www.luxussound.com/images/Bedienungsanleitungen/Installationshinweise_Playmaker_EN(1).pdf
Hope others find it useful - perhaps it should be placed in the 'User and Service Manual' section?
That it exactly the right thing!
These setting were several times mentioned by me.
Have a look here:

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Many thanks for the link (despite my lack of Danish!) - there's also mention of the setting in B&O's FAQ pages, but I am surprised that they did not include the installation guide in the box for the more 'educated' user!
and today I am using one of Peter Pan's diagrams to help me make an RJ45 plug to 3.5mm socket for occasional use with my PM's line out.
This post is useless without a link.
The link is in my first post!! Perhaps the browser you are using to view does not support it! Try Explorer! Or Chrome!
Works fine with Safari on the iPad

Hi Guy,
if a guy called Guy comes from Viborg in Denmark, I assumed that he would understand danish!
I suppose they did not want to promote the PM this way - it is meant as an 'easy solution' for new costumers.
And the audiosystems and MasterLink already is history.
On the orher hand: making the PM work this way too, really shows how B&O works - always thinking of existing costumers and creating products that may be used with older stuff (backwards-compatibility).
Hi all and thank you for the installation guide.
However I have a problem..Just got a playmaker and are trying to set the line setting to 0 (constant volume) but does not have a B&O sound system. Does anyone know a method for setting these parameters without a BV or a remote?
I have an Integra home receiver that I want to connect thru the playmaker to my Beolab 9's.
Thanks in advance
Nicklas
Hi Nicklas,
I did not quite understood how you are going to use your PM.
If you mean to connect the PowerLink (the RJ45) to your receiver (the BL9's are connected to this), just connect it and turn the wheel (the volumencontrol) all the way up...and don't touch it again.
If you mean to connect your BL9's to the PM and a (fixed) line output of the receiver to the line input of the PM, you need the volumencontrol - either manual (on the wheel) or via a remote (Beo4).
Greetings MM
Here's my setup:
Integra home receiver front line out -> PM line in. Volume at max
PB RJ45 -> Patched out to living room
Living room patch -> BL9 left and then Powerlink to the right speaker.
If I use Airplay to listen from my iPad, I can control the volume from the iPad.But, when I start a movie on home theatre the volume is low, and I have to "turn the wheel" to get back to max.
But if I could access line options inside PM (5 for 78 etc.) there is a setting which is 0 = always max volume on LINE sources. That is what I want to achieve - but I do not have a Beo4 remote. Seems excessive to buy a remote for $300 just to change one setting in the PM.
Just wondered if this change can be done in any other way, using the network or what not.But I may have to buy the remote, or completely skip the Playmaker and go for a DAC instead.
Sorry if my english gets in the way of my way of explaining things.
New in the B&O world.. thankful for all tips I can get :)
/Nick
Just a clearification: I do not want the PM visible. Want to put it in the closet and forget about it :)

One of the few things that does.
I wish the Beosetup app would allow you to read the PM status, i.e. option, level setting, etc. and set them from the app rather than futzing with the remote that has no feedback as to whether the command has been accepted or not.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

Depending on where you are located, it should be easy to borrow a Beo4 to do the job.
Once done, just put the PM away and enjoy.

Hi Jeff,
I was referring to the link posted above - and wonder what that comment has to do with the actual theme.
I was referring to the link as well....I would have thought that was apparent.
Hi again and thank you for all your help.
I've now connected my speakers to the playmaker and I've ran a few tests.I get a distinctive hissing in my speakers after connecting them via the PM. They turn "green" and a hissing sound is heard. If i scroll the wheel to max, the hissing increases.
I also notice a small amount of hissing, or static if you will, in the speakers when they are not connected to anything except AC.They might be damaged - I've contacted B&O support about this.
Any one else know about this increase in static noise when connected thru the PM?
/Nicklas
I agree with you Jeff, there should be a way to configure all advanced settings thru the GUI.
Hi MrKernel,
how are the settings of your BL9?
"LINE–RIGHT–LEFT"?
Millemissen: Hi MrKernel, how are the settings of your BL9? "LINE–RIGHT–LEFT"? MM
Accordingly - Left for Left etc.
Tried LINE as well, but then only left channel sound is played in both speakers. If i play a song from my computer (HDMI to Integra and FRONT-OUT -> PM LINE IN) and press "Mute" on the Integra remote, I get a very loud static noise. Seems as the PM is sending crap to the speakers even thou the Integra is switched off completely.
Hi again,
May seem odd, but I have to ask:
1: which cables are you using between the PM and the BL9. -original B&O cables?
2: have you tried another source for the line in of the PM.
