I have been programming the BEO5/6 remotes for years to control mainly the BV7 brand.

Thought that the programming of BEO6 for the v1 series would be much easier, but alas no... unless there is something obvious I'm missing.

Let's use the simplest setup using the Config Tool (latest version): just a v1 with nothing connected to it. Select the v1 in the list. It displays only WEBMEDIA and HOMEMEDIA in the EDIT tab. Seems OK, but... when you test the transmitter IR, it just returns nothing, like the XML is empty!

Anyone had the same experience? Is there a fixed XML?

There is no problem as far as I am aware with the Beo6 controlling BeoPlay V1.

You should be aware that the B&O IR device code has changed for these products so when you review the IR codes being transmitted in the VIEW tab you will see the following typical string:-

  • F17:IRA1V:EETV

When adding the Beoplay V1 in the configuration Tool there is two options:-

  • Beoplay V1
  • Beoplay V1 with PUC only

The Beoplay V1 with PUC only will give you WEBMEDIA and HOMEMEDIA but not TV

Pressing WEBMEDIA in VIEW TAB will show a transmitted IR of F17:IRA1V:EE:V_SAT

Pressing HOMEMEDIA in VIEW TAB will show a transmitted IR of F17:IRA1V:EE:N_TV as shown below

Exactly Keith. You're right, that's why I'm so surprised. But in my case the WEBMEDIA press in VIEW TAB returns nothing. Same for HOMEMEDIA.

Tried both Beo5 and Beo6 remotes. It seems that the xml of the v1 is corrupted. Had once the problem with DVD2, which suddently didn't return anything anymore after a Config Tool update.

Well, I think I can edit the IR code manually, but still this shouldn't happen.

Anyway, thanks for your quick reply.

Just wondering if the reason is that I still use Windows Vista as all my configs are still on that computer.

Well, will try another OS and install the Config Tool there.

Whilst Vista is the most appalling Operating System Microsoft ever produced, the Configuration Tool did work on it.

I would certainly re-install the programme on another PC with Windows 7 if that is possible.

All your configurations can be copied over, just copy the Clients sub-directory over-writing the one created on your new PC

If you have created any of your own images etc., clearly they will need to be copied over as well.

Tried the Config Tool on Windows 8.

The v1 commands are back, but the Config Tool crashes each time I click on the Logos tab. So it´s useless...

Unfortunately, you clearly have version 6.00.02 which has the software bug you have described.

It was fixed in release 6.5 made available to dealers 25th Feb 2013

The current version of the Configuration Tool is 6.57

It works on Windows 7, but only for the Beo6 remote.

Impossible to install the Beo5 driver. Anyone remembers the step by step setup of the Beo5 driver for Windows 7?

I'm really getting tired with all this driver setup issues everytime you change your OS or install on a new computer...

If you are running Windows 7 make sure you know if you are running a 32 or 64 bit operating system as the USB drivers are different.

As you previously mentioned that your Firmware is version 3.0 tells me you are/or were on the old machine running a 64 bit operating system.

If correct, then you MUST use Windows 7 64 bit operating system.

To check press START then CONTROL PANEL then SYSTEM AND SECURITY then SYSTEM and the operating system will be displayed.

I'm only running 32 bits OS, but I think you're right, I need the latest version of the Config Tool (thought I had it actually the v6.57).

Anyway, will get it and see if the whole thing is more stable, especially re the Beo5 remote. I'm sure it will.

Well, thanks a lot for your quick responses.
