Does it make any sense to have 3 subs....:-)))

They wouldn't be able to sell at these prices, if there were 3 different versions.

As I wrote, it is exactly the same - the cabling (and of cource the amount of satelites) makes the difference.

Don't forget the packaging!!! ;-)))

Sorry, but it is not the cabling, I suppose...

Why provide a 5.1 patch cable, if you (for the 2.1 version) only need a simple stereo adapter?

And the userinformation how to set the jumpers is also different - by the way.

As far as I I am informed, the packaging is the same in all three versions

But there is really no need to discuss it - any dealer should be able to tell us the exact difference..

Maybe a stupid question, but I assume one can buy the 2:1 version and still connect it as a 3:1 using my BV10 as centerspeaker?

Another stupid question :

In a 2.1 sub, I suppose there are only 3 amps (one for the sub and 2 for the satellites).

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

That means I could use a 2.1 and plug my passive inwall IWS 2000 bang olufsen speakers with the 2 other amps left ?

According to you, Is it possible to plug my beolab 5000 instead of the beolab 14 satellites and use the icepower amps built in the beolab 14 ?

If I use this kind of setup with my bv7.40 mk3 :

beoab 7.2 as center speaker directly  connected to the tv

beolab 5000 as front connected to the beolab 14 2.1

iws 2000 passiv speakers as surround or ambiant speakers connected to the beolab 14 2.1

beolab 3 as rear speakers directly connected to the tv

How could I set  the speakers connections into the tv ?

I am not satisfied by the class ab amps of my beolab 5000 sO that's why I would like to test them with the icepower amps of the beolab 14.

Quite complicated isn't it Wink

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

That's a lot of questions.

Some - theoretically - YES

Others  NO

Remember: the amps and the DSP is made for the satelites!!!

It should be possible to use the amp with the IWS - it might require some tuning of the dip-switches and choosing the right speaker in the setup men of the BV.

Best ask a B&O dealer/technician for these details.

You can not drive an active speaker with the amp in the BL14 unit.

You would have to make them Vox - means disconnect the amp of the 5000's before connectin rhem to the BL14.

I am not sure that the result will be satisfying - as I wrote the amp in the BL14 is dedicated for the satelites.

Why don't just connect the BL5000 as front (as usual) and the two satelites of the BL14-2.1 as rear speakers? The sub will surely boost the sound of the frontspeakers

Then again - what about the IWS2000 and the BL3? How many surround/rear/ambient speakers do you plan to have? What kind of setup is that???

You might use the BL3 as rear and the BL14 satelites as side speakers (if your BV allows for that).

The settings of the speakers in the menu shouldn't be too complicated - but first you must know what you want/which speaker you want to use and where.

MM with some explanation , it will be probably clearer.

The iws 2000 are already into my roof and I used them as rear speakers before with a non b&o amp.

But as I have a long room, I have moved now my sofa to the back of the room. The tv and the iws are still in the same place.

As I can't use this IWS anymore as rear speaker, I will use my beolabs 3 instead.

The iws 2000 could be used as surround speakers. I can't left these speakers unused.

The beolab 5000 don't move and are still hanged on the wall.

Of course, I have to disconnect the amp of the beolab 5000 if I want to use them with a beolab 14.

The beolab 3 will be also connected to my beosound 5 and will be used this way only for stereo listening. But that's another story.

Hope this explanation help Wink

So you don't really need the BL14-2.1?

You need a sub to assist your existing good setup!

Well, that's the problem.

Bl11 is too weak for my need, the beolab 2 too powerfull. The sub inside the bl 14 is perfectly what I need.

So should I wait another b&o sub , or should I find another solution that allow me to use my IWS 2000 and maybe improve the sound of my beolab 5000 (beovox with the bl 14) ?

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

Well, hard to advice you.

if you can't wait for a 'new' sub, buy the BL 14 2.1 set - sell the satelites, or keep them safely in the box, untill you want to sell the whole set again.

Let the BL14 amp power tour IWS2000 as surround side speakers.

How about some experimenting - would be nice to hear how the BL14 handles this Cool

As for non-B&O sub, I have no experience - but I am sure there are others with this knowledge.

I can wait but my budget is around 2000 euros and I am afraid that the next sub will be above this.

The main advantage of the beolab 14 for me is that it is not a powerfull sub (only 280 w) but it goes deep enough for me) + I can make some experimentation with the amps inside Smile

Non b&o subs ? are you crazy ?, I won't be able to justify the use of a non b&o set up surrounded by only b&o speakers Whistle
