beomaster 3500 software

Hi, Would like some info on the upgrade chip for the beomaster 3500, which gives it 2way control. I've seen the topic in the archive,2bur/richard mentioned he has done several upgrades, but his last post was somewhere in the early days of 2012, therefore this post. I've come across some chips, •8341094 vervangt 51 IC 3 •8341095 vervangt IC •Software 2.2, 8341178 I guess the last one is for the bm, correct? Is it an easy job, like just carefully flipping the chips? Thanks in advance, Dougie

Yes, it's possible to upgrade bm3500 for 2way control. I did it successfully some years ago. You just change the chip with the software (eprom IC3). There is no specific upgrade chip, but IC3 from bm4500 fits. To get 2way control you also need to have the newer version of the operation panel. You will find the difference in an older post. Some bm3500's ask for a code after the software swap. As far as i remember the code is 1271.   

Like some other members i also changed the covers (bm3500, bg3500, bgcd3500 and bc3500) from gray to mirror which suits the black housing very nice.

Should I wish to upgrade the sw of a BM3500 to the sw of the BM4500, how could I get the relevant eprom?

Will it give me access to the timer function?

You can buy a cheap broken BM4500 or order the eprom from B&O (don't know whether this particular chip is still available). Memory chips for Beomasters are rare on ebay.

Yes, it will give you all the functionality of the BM4500 including timer function (BM3500+eprom BM4500+Housing BM4500 = BM4500 as you can see in the repair manual of the BM4500).

Maybe a Eeprom copy would help. Have about 15 BM4500's. Made a copy once for a BC9300 which was totally dead and volia, back to life!

Need to find time to do that. Friend of mine can make a copy of this BM4500 Eprom. Any specific S/W version?

probably not if the equipment is still under copyrights protection. 

I am not sure about the 25 years delay for this

I am interested as well if the version is 2.1 or higher. The one with two way controll and timer function.

Hi

I was able to bye a old damaged Beomaster 4500 and copy the eprom. Put it to the BM 3500 and it worked. Set Time and display it on Beolab 3500 works fine. Also setting theTimer is possible. (I used a Beolink 5000 for both)
