I have Beocom 6000 mk 1 base with telephone and bought Beocom mk2 basewith mk2 telephone.
What is best to register both to mk 1 or both to mk2 base. I also have beocom 2 mk 1.
At this moment I registered all the phones to the Beocom 6000 mk 1 base. Now the Beocom 6000 mk2 base light is steady red instead of green. I can answer all incoming calls, but I can not make a phonecall with the beocom 6000 connnected with mk1 base
Beovision 10-46, Beo6, Beosound 5+ Beomaster 5, Beolab 12.2, Beolab 12.3, Beocom 6000
The official line is that mark1 handsets are NOT forward compatible. Whereas mark2 handsets ARE backwards compatible.
If you register a mark2 handset to a mark1 base it recognises the older base and gives you that functionality.
If you register a mark1 handset to a mark2 base it "may" work with limited functions but probably won't allow you to edit phonebook, receive caller id info etc.
I guess it's a bit of trial and error.
Opman
Thnx Opman.
As I told, I registered all the sets to the Beocom 6000mk1 base. I registered 2 Beocom 2 mk1 ( no problem) and I registered 1 Beocom 6000 mk2 ( which has base station itself) to the Beocom 6000 mk1.
Now the phonebook in the beocom base mk1 is empty and the indicator light on the Beocom 6000 mk2 base maintains steady red after about 60 seconds green with the handset mk2 on the base mk2.
what is wrong?
Registered all the phones again from stretch.
Now phonebook is working on all sets. Still the base light steady red after about 60 seconds green with the Beocom 6000 mk 2 phone on base. As well on base mk1 and base mk2. When I put the beocom 6000 mk 1 on the base, light on base stays green. The handset Beocom 6000 mk 2 battery is full.
Why the light on the base is red with Beocom 6000 mk2 on the base and with Beocom 6000 mk1 on the base the light stays green on the base?
From this website
May 2005: Seven years after the introduction of BeoCom 6000 it was necessary to update the chipset. Mainly of a technical nature, the menu of all BeoCom 6000s manufactured after this date will include a changed structure of the menu and the new feature of being able to connect EarSet 1 Home.
Backwards-compatible, the handset can be connected to any existing Bang & Olufsen DECT system. However, the proviso is that the existing base station and handsets are updated to software version 2.5.
Due to safety reasons the updated handset will not fit table chargers produced before May 2003 or the triangular base station. The risk of having a burst from the line if the handset is placed in the old triangular base station, when using a headset, has forced mechanical change to be made the phone.
stoobie
The Beocom 6000 mk2 has its own basestation in the piramid, so it doses not need an beoline. Beocom 2 has no basestation ( except standalone version).
I changed battery in the handset, no results.
I wonder, is the light on the beocom mk 2 base steady red because all the phones are registered to the beocom mk1 base?
So, I have 2 basestations mk1 and mk2 and the handsets are registered to the beocom mk 1 base ( backwards compatible).
Problem solved.
The beocom 6000 phone is mk2 but the base station was mk1 ( it als a mk2 base).
Placing a mk 2 phone on a mk1 base ......no loading due to change in contacts, so red light.
