The arm on my Beogram 4000 is floppy.  it sits on the base and won't rise by requesting it start to play or by pressing the up/down buttons, though the solenoid clicks, nothing happens.  Any suggestions on how to start approaching this repair?  What should i look at first?  I've never opened it, but i'm willing...any tips or clues would be greatly appreciated!

thank you-  - -

Problem solved:  Lubricated one of the cylinder above the solenoid in the control arm assembly...works great now!

Hello.  Perhaps you might be able to help.  I have a similar problem with the tone arm on my Beogram 4000.  It just sits limply on the chassis.  When I play the deck it doesn't rise but it moves across to the correct position on the record provided I manually lift it and it plays the record no problem.  However at the end the arm doesn't rise again either and just wants to slide back to the 'home' position.

Grateful for any advice that you or anyone else can give me.

Scott.
