Hello all,

New to the world of Beomaster and this forum. I've just inherited my Grandad's stunning Beomaster 900. But it's not working. I'm keen to get the radio working and if possible hook up an external player, like my iPod? I also have the two speakers it waiting to be hooked up.

I'd love to learn how to get it fixed up myself, it would mean lots to me, but if anyone knows a repair centre in London that could get his beauty stereo back up again, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

RJ

Welcome to Beoworld !

Learning the basics about how to repair electronics takes 3-4 years.
Add to this a good amount of experience that you will have to gain and you're about ready.
Sadly, I don't think any schools will teach you early 1960s technology anymore.
However, here at Beoworld we do like to help eachother (though we mustn't push anyone beyond their capabilities).

Maybe you can tell us a little more about your DIY skills and the set ?
Is there no sound at all from the speakers ? A thump at power up, a humming or hissing at max volume or
crackling when changing source ?
Any lights working ?

Hi Martin,

Thanks my skills are near none. I am more familiar with computers, not old radios. I think I may need to find someone who can do this for me.

There is no sound, light or anything that comes out of the radio when I turn it on. I've checked and changed the fuse on the plug and it still shows no sign of life..

I'm guessing it has to do with the power not working, but I'm hesitant in taking the cover off until I know what I'm doing for fear of breaking it more.

what would be your recommendation?

thanks for your time.
