Hi,
I just saw the new launched Loewe Connect ID. It seems to play in the same room than the soon coming BeoPlay TV. I like the design but I guess that the build quality will be much better for the BeoPlay TV. But what about the characteristics... Loewe proposes many colors, DVBT2, HDR, WLAN, internet access, ... for a price range 1400€ (32") - 2900€ (46" full equipped).

What do you think? Which one will be the best choice?
Ive been told by a source from loewe that there new tv has the same mainboard as the cheap no branded tvs u get in the supermarket and hes already repaired a lot of them
Kokane81: Ive been told by a source from loewe that there new tv has the same mainboard as the cheap no branded tvs u get in the supermarket and hes already repaired a lot of them
How can they have repaired a lot of these as they just had the launch event, and the first models will be delivered only in may to the clients?
Question to benoit was the picture quality any good? and where did you see it.
Beoplay A2
It was a special event 10 days ago in London (harrods).
The PQ is fine for my taste and the sound is quite powerful with the inbuilt speakers. But I don't know how it will be in comparison to the BeoPlay TV.
Thanks benoit i actually went to harrods today and i saw one, i didn't get to here want it sounded like though but overall i really like it. I even got a quote for £1600 for the 40" without any hardrive features. I would really like to see what the new beoplay tv looks like before dedicating myself to any purchases though.
I've just seen the Connect ID, and talked to the Loewe staff at the french launch event :
It's really a great TV : looks slim but has enough volume to have big sound (high level sound, better than previous Loewe, but still not at the BV8-40 level, which is normal when you see how small the speaker part is compared to the BV8). Image quality is typical Loewe : really good, but I hope there will be no quality problems like on previous sets (panels of largely variable quality where used for the same sets)
Plastic, but good finish, glossy border and soft touch back.
You can choose between 6 speaker+back colors and 3 frame colors at launch, many more later, and you can change colors after purchase (work done by dealer as it's the whole back+speaker cloth that has to be changed).
DVB T+ C tuner integrated, hard disk recorder is optional at 500€ (recording+time shifting is possible on a simple usb key on the entry level). DLNA network player integrated to play movies/music from your NAS/BM5. Compatibility with the iPad app from Loewe : you can read the TV guide on iPad, and choose "watch" or "record" in one touch. Sounds like a perfect "modern technology" link-room TV if you don't want to spend the price of a car for your bedroom TV.
A lot of placement options, some really cool.
5.1 decoder integrated, so you can connect a set of Beolabs without issue.
1390€ for a 32 inch without recorder, add 500€ for the 40", and 500€ more for the 46". And 500€ for the Hard disc recorder. (and no, the remote is not at 500€, it's included )
In short : cool, modern, connected, cheap. It will sell like hot cakes. Hope that the B&O Play TV is on the same level.

I think loewe has done a smart move buy pricing these new tvs accordingly. To me the quote i got of £1600 is affordable for the 40", if b&0 put there new entry level tv in that kind of price bracket then that would peak my interest alot... anything above that to me isn't entry level to me. I know some may disagree with me here but thats my opinion.
I was also told that they are cutting a few lines out of the range meaning that the loewe art will be discontinued i was also told that they are bringing out the reference model in more sizes 40", 46" they are also planning on revamping the individual line too.
The new Individual range will come later this year with a new chassis (DTS HD Master Audio and Dolby True HD decoding inside...).
The new Connect ID is replacing the Connect line, and also the Art line.
No idea about the Reference "line", as this TV is clearly not interesting : it's like a BV10 copy for the square size, but with poor finish and picture quality compared to the BV10, but more expensive (ok, you get a hard drive recorder, not in the BV10).
I met the people from Sony today, and they also say that they want to move to high end... The path will be long for them!
Note that the past years, absolutely NO mainstream brand has made money with their TVs. Some say that B&O is overpriced, but Pioneer has lost billions and sold the TV business, Philips has lost billions and sold the TV business, Samsung, LG, Panasonic and Sony have lost billions... What was the point of that? The world is crazy! Now people from Sony have told me that they want to make sets like 40-46" for 1600-2000€, in order to make money and no loss when the sell a TV...
I forgot to add that the new loewe reference tvs will also have a bluray player built in. As for philips yeah they are now owned by tpv which will be based in amsterdam but philips still have a 30% share, there new range look amazing really slim and minimalistic looking. The 7000 and 8000 series this year will have 5 hdmis active 3-d plus the the love it or hate it ambilight feature.
mbee:1390€ for a 32 inch without recorder, add 500€ for the 40", and 500€ more for the 46". And 500€ for the Hard disc recorder. (and no, the remote is not at 500€, it's included )
Australian prices:
which seem to include the 500GB drive but only black or white colours !?!
And they are throwing in an iPad3 for free until the end of April (previously it was an iPad2 until the end of March )
BeoNut since '75
For the price that looks a very good attractive offer considering all the components. My only problem with Loewe is that although i want an alternative to B&O i don't think Loewe is it. I always take a peak of what they have on the off chance something appears, but then i walk into our local B&O showroom and realise it's simply in a different class.
Added to that companies like Samsung now make much better looking tv's, with again some good extras. Loewe seem stranded in the middle.
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Are you sure that it is the Connect ID and not the 'old' Connect which is only in black or white?
The ID model will only be widely available in may for the 40" and june/july for the 32", at least in Germany and France.

I would say you are correct if I compared the picture in the advert with the T3 Harrod's youtube clip -- there is a difference; however the advertising copy does say "The new Loewe Connect ..." and "Purchase a new Loewe LED Connect ...", so I guess they meant "new" as in "not second-hand"
So to paraphrase Mark Twain, "there are lies, damned lies, statistics, and advertising copy"

I think B&O and Loewe are very closely matched in terms of design, whilst Loewe offers a lower cost entry point for good design. From what I can see the Loewe Connect ID TV is abeautifully designed TV with plenty of features and specification, and actually good value for money. It has to be said though that the B&O brand is more exclusive and many customers will choose B&O for that reason alone.

Yesterday I walked past a whole section of a floor of the KaDeWa store in Berlin dedicated to the Loewe brand - I did not look all the closely - the one piece I was interested in had a sticker saying "Do Not Touch" (lol)
I think the V1 looks more substantial, enduring that the Loewe, but you really need to get to understand what lies under the covers of both machines. Look at the menu options of the V1 and see if the Loewe is comparable ...
