Just stumbled upon this concept smart phone from Samsung/Bang & Olufsen. It is a few years old but I have not seen it before. What do you guys think? Will we ever see a new mobile phone from this partnership and in case would you be interested in buying it?

Hi Millemissen. And that makes all the difference? At the moment I am seriously considering buying the Lumigon T2 because it's different and it also has B&O icepower. I have always had mobiles that most people did not have. I think this concept would make a nice high end mobile in the lineup from Samsung. There is no really high end mobiles at the moment apart from those ridiculous Cartier-matching Vertu "things"...

Hi there,

I have a Lumigon T2, because it has IcePower Mobile 3 and a built-in remote control, but frankly, until the last SW update, I thought I had made a huge mistake.

Looks like user feedback to Lumigon was fruitful, because the last SW update corrected most of my criticism, so I'm glad that the danes are reacting quickly.

The phone is beautiful, memory can be upgraded to 128 GB micro SDXC (!), with a theoretical capacity of 2 TB when it becomes available.

Battery lasts 2 to 3 days, the biggest flaw is the GSM signal strength, that is very poor (I have to go in my garden to call people! Indoor reception is pathetic), the remote control feature is a real plus (since it handles B&O codes, that are pre-programmed, like ..Apple's codes !), and the built-in player now handles Apple Lossless (with the last update).

The camera is excellent, FM radio is also very good, the earphones provided in the box are pure danish design, and bass is way superior to the A8 range that I've been using for more than 10 years. Soundwise, however, I was a bit disappointed because the phone has too much hiss for me (it comes from the phone, not the earphones, that work great with other players), so it hasn't become my music player yet, as first planned.

I can't comment on the other features, since I'm no great fan of Android & don't use the apps! But given the price, you can't really complain.Cool

Hi Christophe,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Lumigon. Sounds like a phone with potential. The flaws just makes it a little bit more exciting don't you think? Stick out tongue

I doubt B&O would ever go into the mobile phone market again...

But IF they did - then maybe I would buy one.
It would, however, depend on the design. If they could really make something different to other phones,
Something that is as different to other phones today as the Beomaster 1900 was different to other receivers back then in the 70's...

But then again - that day may never come. B&O is too small to join a market where the customers expect a new model every year.

Just interested in what your criticisms were that have been fixed Christophe?

Do you use it to control your B&O items and how easy is it?

Hi Chris,

The last SW update on the Lumigon T2 finally allowed infra-red B&O remote control: it was the main reason for buying the phone, and yet, out of the box, the range was a ridiculous ....50 cm Sad; now it's been fixed and I can control all  my B&O gear with it..quite cool!

It can also playback ALAC files straight from the internal Google music player, which was impossible before, I had to download a dedicated app for that, with limited features in the free version. All my other devices being Apple-related, it's nice that I don't have to convert my 150 Gb music collection for my phone. And since you can now use the internal player, you benefit from the IcePower DSP settings.

Wi-fi reception is now improved, and surfing on the web is quite fast.

Sound performance is slightly improved, but not reaching the level of my Serenata yet (in terms of SNR for instance).

Overall, the phone is more stable, the screen used to freeze, it's no longer the case.

Looks interesting, but I get the feeling they need to update the tech specs and software to compete.

Can you post some picture off the screen (remote) in B&O mode?

Hi & apologies for not reverting earlier,

Enclosed some screenshots with the B&O remote screens, unfortunately the touch screen is so reflective that it's hard to see anything..maybe they should collaborate with B&O for an anti-reflection coatingStick out tongue

The other great thing is that the top "activity" button can send IR codes as well, without having to open the app, so whenever I come back home, a short press turns on the BeoPort.

Great thanx!

One more question...what comes in the box??

I see some pictures theres a desktopstand but it seems that is not in box or!?

Have you make your own stand with an old B&O (Ericsson) stand?

Indeed, the docking station hasn't been released yet, it is still a project for the moment. So I sort of created mine, but haven't had time to integrate the USB cable to the B&O socket.

Here's what's in the box, the SDXC card is optional, for the moment I could "only" find 64 Gb cards, but 128 Gb should be out soon:
