Due to the fact of health reasons but also of other interests I gonna quit my B&O hobby.

Therefore  I will soon put all my collectors items here on this thread. Be aware that lots of pictures will show up Smile

Thank you my dear friends for your warm wishes.

At the moment I'm negotiating with a reseller to sell the whole lot in once (and I can tell you, that's a lot).

The collector items is a different story. Have to summarize what I have collected the last few years and maybe that will be sold in one lot to this seller depending what prices we gonna agree. Selling these kind of things separately can bring me a lot when sold via Ebay (hopefully).

Will keep you informed if someone is interested.

I will still continue my refurb hobby on B&O stuff whenever my eyes (that's my physical problem at the moment) are getting better.

Cheers and stay healthy....

Very sorry to hear about the eye issue Leslie. I hope you recover well from it and any other health issues. You have always been an inspiration with your work, you are quite the craftsman and perfectionist.

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

Thanks Jeff, I hope it will. I'm struggling with my eyes now for 5 weeks and it's quite difficult, nearly impossible, to do any work, also on my B&O stuff. What a dissapointment :-( I hope for the best and let's wait what my specialist will say soon.

Still I need to "show off" my stuff over here before it's gone because there is a "reseller" who is mighty interested in buying my whole collection.

Hi Leslie,

Deeply sorry to see that you are forced to sell all your AMAZING collection. Since I am on the forum, I always been very impressed by it, your knowledge and your capacity to repair everything coming from B&O.

A kind of B&O god ;). I do hope that you will find the doctor and treatment you desserve.

Concerning the sale of your collection, It's a pity that a reseller buy it because I am sure that a lot of collectors on beoworld would be pleased to give you the correct price for each item.

According to the circumstances, I understand it would be far easier for you to sell it at only one person (less parcel to do ...).

Best regards

Olivier

Thanks Oliver, at least I have many good fans (or friends) who appreciate of what I'm doing.

My collection was a sort of investment for my "pension fund" but as you might know prices are dropping increasingly and also the problems I might get selling all items separately.

Hello Leslie,

I see that I am rather late noticing your collectable sale and the reason for it. This right on top of your father’s demise.

Suffice to say I am absolutely devastated because you have been more than a friend to me, in so many ways.

BeoWorld without your input and wit…. it just won’t be the same….. and you can see how many people share this view!

I tried to make a joke about all this being the result of your going to Texas, but the joke didn’t work because I don’t really feel like being funny right now.

Leslie my friend, I wish you all the very best with your medical issues, whatever they are.

Please keep us all posted on your progress.

You have my email and after this, maybe I’ll reconsider Skype.

My dear Jeff, I think we know each other by now (all the chats by mail) so I consider you as one of my dear friends. But don't worry, I'm not gone, just selling and it has already started. Once my eyes are getting better (hopefully) I will continue my passionate hobby B&O stuff restoration. I already started with a few M70's but it's tough doing that with just one and a half eye Super Angry Still no improvement so I'm getting a bit worried. Let's hope for the best....

Thanks Martin, very kind of you. I think I better start a new thread where I need to show my collector items cause I got lots of PM's where members would like to see what I have and maybe what they would like to buy. I hope on Friday to hear what doctors can do about my eye problems. Still not working (5th week already) and trying to do some (refurb) exercises during the day. I have to do something....Confused

Very sorry to hear you are having problems and can empathise as I have an incurable eye condition as well. Luckily mine seems very slow to progress and I do hope that yours does as well as possible. I would hope that you continue your work with B&O as I have always been fascinated by what you do.

Best wishes.

Well thank you very much Peter! I do hope the neurologist comes with good prognoses which I will hear on Friday. Been to a specialized eye clinic but they can't help me. I'm having this issue now for the last 5-6 weeks and I'm using B&O refurb now as a sort of therapy for my eye(s). It's tough though, you can't see any depth and I must say that a tiny bit of improvement is happening but still not the progress I'm expecting.

Yikes, vision problems appear to be becoming contagious here at BeoWorld.

Yesterday I went in for my routine eye examination and I noticed the frown on my doctor’s face. Next thing I know I am being handed paperwork on “narrow angle glaucoma” and given an appointment with an Ophthalmologist.

I was told “nothing to worry about,” although “if” I have an attack, I could be permanently blind in three hours without emergency treatment. The doctor went on to say that in many cases the problem can be treated with drops, but my situation will require surgery.

I have my eyes checked every year, so this came completely out of the blue. Certainly my “development” is minor as compared to either Leslie or Peter, but it is a bit scary.

Hang in there Leslie and keep up with your B&O therapy. Yes - thumbs up

Jeff

This diagnosis has been known to be occasionally abused. Not doubting your doctor, but before you undergo that "safe, In-office"procedure, I might recommend a second opinion...from a doc at least 25 miles away.

Thank you for the head’s up, which I sincerely appreciate, however my doctor is extremely good and has no motivation or benefit from a misdiagnosis. (She could be mistaken, of course.)

Here in Canada we have socialized medicine and they don’t do ANY procedure they really don’t have to.

I have a referral to an ophthalmologist and the referral was checked as “necessary” which means the government must pay 100% for it.

As such if there were ANY reason not to do it, they won’t.

Unlike the US no one can just go to a specialist, we must first see our primary physician who refers us; IF they feel it is warranted.

The downside is I can’t choose my specialist so if they are not very good, I am out of luck.

I have had two allergists, who were just awful, but an excellent ENT specialist and lung specialist.

I was shown the image of my eye “drains” for the lack of the technical term and what is considered normal. Suffice to say the difference was frightening and with the prospect of irreversible blindness within two to three hours without emergency treatment, well let’s just say they have my undivided attention on this one.

And as I said I have an exam every year so the “situation” has changed drastically since a year ago, and they have the image to prove it.

In any case, I DO appreciate the word of caution as only a complete fool would subject themselves to unnecessary surgery, especially with one’s eyes. However the thought of blindness has zero appeal so I am going to listen to what the ophthalmologist has to say.

I am sure you are correct to get it checked. The diagnosis of glaucoma is made both by measuring the pressure within the eye and also examining the back of the eye. Changes in the retina showing glaucoma are initially subtle but should always be acted upon. Measuring pressure is a bit of a minefield. Many opticians use a mechanism which uses a directed jet of air and measures the indentation this causes. Not very accurate and influenced by corneal thickness. Tonometry, which involves a device directly pressing on the eye is far better and is what the hospital will do. Many patients sent up with glaucoma in fact are normal. Untreated glaucoma is a large cause of premature blindness.

Hello Peter,

I am by no means an “expert” on glaucoma and I don’t want to be. However it is my understanding that there are several forms of glaucoma.

My particular variety is the result of a very narrow drain between the cornea and the iris and the problem is with such a small opening there is the danger of blockage which causes the pressure to build in the eye and blindness will definitely occur within 2/3 hours if not treated.

When this drain is not blocked (like now) there is no problem and the pressure is quite normal. Far sighted people are more likely to have this issue and I am far sighted. It is also age related, like so many other things.

Also the anti-histamine I take for my allergies is a trigger for this condition, wouldn’t you know? Plus anything that would cause the iris to dilate (like a movie theater) is to be avoided.

I am just waiting patiently for my appointment with the ophthalmologist.

Jeff

You are correct - yours sound like closed angle - I am sure the opthalmologist will advise the best treatment - like you, I exist in a nationalised health system which attempts to allow all citizens the advantages of specialist care no matter their income. My grandmother had closed angle glaucoma and had the operation.

Hey everybody,

Been to my neurologist today and luckily nothing serious. I won't go into details (however, he found a strange virus, Beo?) but just want to say a massive thank you for all your heartwarming support on this thread (which was actually meant for "showing off" my collection things). Also a big hug to all who has sent me a PM, thanks again.

Now let's hope for a good ending for my friend Jeff (Piaf). He will have my continuous support.....
