I have recently purchased a home with a B&O Sound System.  It is the 5500 series and I would like to play my iPod/ipad through the system.  My research on the internet seems to indicate this can by done by purchasing a connecting cable this has 3.5 mm connector on one end and a 5 pin DIN connector on the other.  Is this all that is needed and where can I purchase such a cable?  Appreciate any help I can get.

Welcome to beoworld,

A 3.5 mm to 5 din is what you need. It can be bought from steve at http://www.soundsheavenly.co.uk/bando-ipod.htm

enjoy your beosystem 5500!

You don't need a special cable, just a 3,5mm to double RCA. The Beomaster 5500 has for A-tape (1 or 2) and phono, both 5 din and RCA at the back.

Just be gentle with pushing and pulling the leads on these RCA connectors.
