I recently ordered some REAN 7-pin DIN cables to replace some cheap radio shack MIDI cables but I am finding that my Beomaster 8000 won't accept the datalink info from the turntable or tape deck even though the cables are 7-pin DIN.   Any suggestions?

There is nothing wrong with the plugs, the problem is with the way the cables have been connected to the plug!

With most B&O systems the datalink conductor should be connected to pin 6 but Beomasters without on board RIAA pre amps should have the datalink connected to pin7.

It is possible to just link pins 6 and 7 together and the cable should work on either system.

- and the Phono cable should have separate signal- and protective grounds.

I took a look inside the cable and only 3 of the 7 pins are actually connected inside. L/R/G on the top 3 pins. So these REAN cables should be avoided.
