Well, perhaps of the current clientele, but what about the other ones that DO care about tech specs? (Like me) B&O really needs to broaden it's reach.
A magazine advert can only be the appetizer - not the meal.
Of the potential B&O costumers very few are interested in specs - guys like you (and me) will never be the ones B&O makes products for.
And yet we buy the products - because they work!
Again I must ask: how much tech specs do you want? In the adverts? In the (coming) catalougue? On the website?

I'm not sure that we buy B&O "because they work"... I might be buying Apple for that reason, but not B&O.
A Samsung TV also works. Just as well. Maybe not for 20-30 years, but who knows what the lifespan for B&O flat TV's will be, they are only about 10 years old now the first ones.
Do you actually work for B&O and have strong customer insight, since you know most people that buy B&O are completely uninterested in techs? I ask, since obviously this statement is false for all other brand consumers, otherwise, why would people be upgrading their TV's nowadays every 1-3 years? If they are completely uninterested in the technology behind them.

would be interesting to learn why you buy (or bought) your B&O stuff.
For me B&O is not a tv (that may last for years).
It is the fact that videosources and audiosources are integrated (even older stuff with newer) , that you need only one remote, that you can control 3rd party devices, that you don't have to look at displays telling you things you don't need to know, that you don't have to push buttons and turn things on and off, when you switch from listening to a CD to watching tv....
Iin short simplicity!
Something that you can enjoy in all rooms of your house (if you like to) - things that you can enjoy looking at even if it is not in use.
And more - but why am I telling you that. Everyone at Beoworld should know that.
But that is what I mean with 'just work'!
As for me working for B&O: no - but I have and have had the opportunity to experience many people buying B&O-stuff. I am quite sure that most of them would give a damn for what we are writing/asking in this forum or even understand most of it. Please remember that I live in Denmark - the land of B&O - lot of B&O stuff in the houses here.
And, I know many people who don't change/upgrade their non-B&O tv's every 3 years, if they don't have to.

All good selling points and justification for a higher price 10 years ago.
In 2013 there are a thousand ways you can do the same with any supplier for less than the price of B&O so the products have to really shine to justify the extra cost

I think you are being a bit dramatic, ofcourse we shouldn't close down Beoworld!
I think you had a very good point with selecting the sources. That's something I love too. Just one button to shut off my BL5's and BS9000, and on comes my BV9. Superb.
But to be honest, masterlink it great (in my case when these two sources are in the same room, and wiring can be done easily), but I can only imagine, and then dread if I wanted video masterlinked to my upstairs... Not very intuitive, and not very 2013. The masterlink cable alone would cost more than a couple of Apple TV's that would basically be all that's needed, since I have the Macbooks/Mac Mini's already.
What I'd really like to see is something like the BS5 Encore from B&O that could also distribute video and sound wirelessly just like an apple TV does, and a great little software on you computer to do it from.
As an example, my wife is now watching (well then me too ) Sex and the City all over again, I don't have a DVD/BR player connected, as I figured I'd use it so seldom. Instead I'm mirroring my computer screen (Macbook Pro) onto my BV9 with the Apple TV. Works like a charm, and it's very easy.
As an Apple user, I get spoilt by all these wonderful and easy to use solutions that is built in to the software from the beginning.
Wiring is so passé.
And as a side note, B&O isn't telling about the stuff you just told us, in your good post above, about how it "just works". They might say it just works, but not explaining more.
Ah, well, I think we shouldn't tell this to B&O for free, we should be on their payroll!
I feel very sorry to hear that a B&O salesman can't explain these things - every B&O salesman should do this if he wants people to keep buying B&O stuff.

You already mentioned some.
I am an Apple-user as well - actually I find that the combination Bang & Olufsen/Apple is the best way to go at the moment. But the backbone of my setup is Bang & Olufsen. N.B. I have a BluRay player as well!

Looking forward to 'Maverick' and to use my AppleTV's as a genuine second screen for the Mac.
Might bring some new interesting possibilities.
The retail experience has changed and also how we review and buy products, I buy 90% of everything on line including white goods and all my B&O equipment and use the Internet to suck knowledge before purchase. Before I ventured into the B&O world my HiFi purchases were always via What HiFi yearly recomendations and even though I tried I struggled to find back to back reviews of Bang & Olufsen in any magazines.
I work in the car industry and our showrooms are suffering the same issues of lack of footfall and traditionally showing off the product in the same boring way, we need to look at other trend setting retailers and take note and make a visit to a B&O boutique or website an adventure and a wondrous experience that we would wish to revisit and tell our friends.

I've always argued that B&O should do limited edition products or limited runs. All luxury brands do this. Watch, car, handbag manufacturers. The problem with most B&O kit is that it's readily available, to everyone, apart from silly special edition products, such as the V1 in chocolate brown. Ironically, any SE product B&O does produce tends not to get promoted in a store as the dealer doesn't agree with the release.
Personally, I'd buy a wider fret selection, even if this meant spending more money. Why not offer important customers a custom fret based on a number of pantone colours? There's a Dutch company that can do this already, so why not B&O?
I want my BV10-32 to have the same green fret that the BS8 was given. Consistency in the same room. I'd pay more for this green fret, even if it was a special custom option! Custom and special colours are good....as long as they are promoted as being available.

I fully agree - B&O has a long and proven track record with turntables. Vinyl records generate a lot of hype (and sales) these days, so launching a new turntable in the spirit of the Beogram 4000 or 8000 would make full sense. Not a lot B&O audio systems to connect it to though...

The irony is, a couple of young guys in our office would buy a B&O turntable. One has asked me if I can find him one of the older B&O turntables.
The problem for B&O is they are damned if they do, damned if they don't. If they are not seen to adopt modern standards (Spotify etc), people jump on them saying they are technologically behind everyone else. Let's be fair here, how many people on this board have said they want to migrate to the BeoSystem 4 from the BeoSystem 3....simply because of the (badly implemented) extra media functionality from the BV11 chassis? We don't need them. We don't need the gimmicky sound functions (night listening, game, movie, sport etc), but we think our lives will improve if we do. Humans have a desire for the latest technology - see the comment above about waiting for Mavericks.
i find the stores are very clinical looking and never welcoming as the put large cardboard banners at the front of the shop well my local
i also noted that the local HIFI retailer in the same town is marketing all B&O headphones and lower entry products , which must be a big problem for the main store which is now only really in the market for custom install which again is overloaded and requires a tie in with Architects in the UK
