Hello to Everyone.

We just changed out our router to the new Airport Extreme (great design) and the combination of Airport Extreme, Airport Express, and Apple TV has rendered the PC2 in our Masterlink system fairly redundant. We can push music through airplay via the Airport Express to the 9000, and we can also push airplay via the Apple TV to the Avant, and then through the Multilink.

I'm reluctant to get rid of the PC2 as I think it could be re-purposed, but I am not sure as to re-purposed to what end.

Any ideas?

I understand the reluctance - and probably there is not much eBay demand for a BeoPort/PC2.

The only advantage I see in the BeoPort solution is that (a) you can exercise some control (e.g. track skipping) from a Beo4 and (b) if using LinkPlayer you can have the track name display on your Beosound's display (not sure about a 9000, but on my Beosound 4 I do get a nice display).

But these are esoteric benefits compared to the ease of using Airplay p even though my BeoPort is still connected it is never used compared to music via the AppleTV (and my latest addition is the new Vevo ATV app - specifically the Jazz channel)

Isn't it possible to use a Beolink PC2 / Beoport as a Beolink active?

It can work similarly to a BeoLink active, but it must have a computer connected for it to operate.  It also takes a different IR puck than an active.  However, unlike an active, I believe the Beoport can be an audio master in a ML system (again, it needs a computer to do anything).
