There is a tv - and there is a BV
Brilliant, unless you have recently bought one cough grrr
It's the way the cookie crumbles i guess, so lets just hope it brings in some new custom.
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
Great offer from B&O although I do not really think that the BV11 and BL14 complement each other that well design-wise...
Nice to see that they are trying to revitalize their customer offering.
My B&O products: Beosound 9000, Beosound 2300, Beosound Century, Beolab 8000, Beolab 6000, Beolab 4000 x2, Beolab 3500, Beolab 2000, Beolab 10, Beolink Active x2, Beotime, Beo5 x2, Beo4, A9 keyring x2, LC2 dimmer x6 and growing....
Rivenflush: Great offer from B&O although I do not really think that the BV11 and BL14 complement each other that well design-wise...
Went to my dealer's the other day to ask if the BL14 sub can be bought on its own to use with the BV11, as Chris suggested should be an option, the other day. Had a look at the BL14s next to the BV11.....and I realised I prefer the BV11 as a standalone device.
All I want is a decent sub. BL11 is good, but not great. Hopefully this new forthcoming sub is worth buying - it can sit behind the BV11 and remain hidden.
Beste Grüße / Best regards
Schlaumeier
Setup Livingroom: BeoVision 10-40 and 10-32, BeoLab 6000 front, BeoLab 4000 rear, BeoLab 11, Ouverture, Apple TV 2 & 4, Airport Express, 6 x LC2.

Schlaumeier:... or a new bv 11 (or another modelname) is in the pipeline... offer = normaly discontinued in the next 12 months.
My dealer claims to know what's coming out from now until next April and no new TV is due soon. The BV11 isn't a year old. B&O aren't going to replace it for a while.
Maybe things are quiet for B&O or the BL14 isn't selling, hence the offer. Who knows. One thing is true, it's a kick in the teeth for someone who recently bought a BV11!
I also JUST bought one :(. Wouldn't they do something for us still?
They shouldn't offer a product at this price. It is a really bad message sent to the futur buyers :
Only buy when you have a special offer
They should have usual offers like buy this product and you have the second at half the price.
It's always completely stupid to offer something other than an accessory.
This is the best way to disgust the previous buyers and to prevent people to pay the full price.
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
If I had just bought a BV11 and this came out, I'd be straight on the phone to my dealer insisting that they honour the deal.
And I wouldn't go away quietly!

They are stupid, they should sell the sub alone , then the sales will increase !
Jonathan:'d be straight on the phone to my dealer insisting that they honour the deal.
Well that's what I intend to do !!

Exactly. premium brands shouldn't treat customers like this. All they are doing is devaluing the brand and (The two newest) products, and annoying people who have purchased BV11 since launch.
I can't imagine this offer will generate many new sales , especially from people who wired their homes with CAT7 as suggested by the dealers (like me) who can't run these speakers over that infrastructure anyway.
I can imagine it annoying a lot of people, and making others who are looking at other products think they should hang on for the next "special offer"
Just reduce pricing by a percentage across the board, instead of charging premium prices for a luxury brand which then discounts it's latest releases and sells kit on amazon.
Maybe it is just a sign that the BV's has to become less expensive.
But surely annoying for people, who recently has bought a BV11.
Millemissen:annoying
Annoying is a weak word in this case, dear MM

When you here news like this, fanboys like me who have used B&O for nearly forty years, start looking round at other makes and start thinking...yeaahh hang on.

Worth looking at the best of CES from the same website. Some lovely kit coming out this year.

I think it is obvious from the financial statement B&O is have a very hard time selling TV's hence this offer. Whether the Beolab 14 is selling is hard to know?
My BV11 is 2,5 month..... Arrrrgg.
BUT...
As ussually, I'm guessing, this is like buying interest free 2 years - this B&O offer. You pay full price with this offer, if you want the BL14&BV11 offer or it's not included. This is how B&O treat costumers - pay full price and you will get, pay less, and you will not. It all ads up to the same....
Anyone that would get a BV11 discount of about 20% including BL14 for free, and I will be supprissed and withdraw this post... If possible:)
BUT - I'm B&O fan and would not buy anything else.... So fare!
I’m not sure what all the fuss is about, plenty of brands have offers and at least this one is genuine. There is going to a big deal in the UK as 6 major furniture retailers are going to be exposed for false advertising. UK retailers can only put an offer on for less time than the original price and at least some units at the original price must have been sold.
For example, Sofa shop A, advertises a sofa as reduced from £2,000 to £499, the sofa must have been on sale at the full price for longer than the offer price and they must have sold some at £2,000.
As said, this is a genuine offer, whenever anybody purchases something there is no rule that the retailer can’t make an offer a week later.
There are 'rules', and then there is treating your customers with disdain. We're not talking here whether it is legal or not!
If I walked in to a store and bought a $500 TV, and it was discounted the next day, then my loss (although I would have asked if it was going on sale..). But walking in to B&O, a premium brand, and spending $15,000 on a TV I would expect a little more from the retailer.
Thankfully I know that my local B&O dealer wouldn't sell me a TV for $15,000, knowing full well that a better offer is just around the corner...

Of course, you are assuming the dealer knows "full well" when an offer is coming around the corner.
It seems the last thing a supplier needing to push product would do is forewarn downstream dealers of a price decrease, thereby causing them to stop ordering because they are telling their customers not to buy until later. For the unfortunate few who did buy at the higher price, giving an "after the fact" discount to that percentage who complained would cost the dealer even more, and not seem fair to those who didn't. When does it all end?
But business judgment shouldn't get in the way of hurt feelings and a good rant.

As a BV11 owner I have no particular problem over this offer.
Dealers may not have known of the offer in advance, and for all we know they are having to share the cost/ discount with B&O.
The real question is whether a quality brand like B&O should be using this sort of strategy in the first place and whether it boosts overall sales and profits. Lots of TV manufacturers have special packages from time to time, like cinema systems or BluRay players included at no extra cost or for a nominal payment, but B&O are not in this same competitive market as the typical TV manufacturer.
Graham
Well, I have had a number of friends in the sales biz and did it myself for a few years, and I never recall a big deal or price break that the manufacturer pre announced to the dealers. Maybe it happens now and them, my experiences are not global in scope but as mentioned its not in the interests of the manufacturer to do so in many cases. There is a friction between the dealer and manufacturer, although their goals and such align they are not identical. Customer, dealer, maker, all have to sit down at the same table but have widely varying needs that nevertheless have a Venn diagram that overlaps enough for them to coexist. They all need each other. But will draw blood when it seems to suit them.
As for this being a good Beostrategy, who knows. I'm thinking that B&O believes they are in this kind of market whether they want to be or not, with the global economy in the crapper, and which will be for the forseeable future, and the younger market struggling for the kinds of jobs and money their parents may have had but not getting it. I suspect the market will be roiled for some time.
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

There's that green speaker fret again (second photo in above link :) Clearly it isn't, it's just the blue fret, but it doesn't half look like a green fret. I'm so keen to get a green fret I even asked my dealer pointing out the photo and he thought it was green, for a moment.
As a BV11 owner, albeit an owner who has had a BV11 for 9 months, I have no issues with deals such as this. I guess we just wish we could have got a free BL14, although I have said earlier that I'm very happy with my BV11/BL11 combo. I can hide the BL11 behind the BV11 and it handles movies and explosions to my satisfaction. Sure, it's no BL9-beater, but the BL9s often blew away the neighbours.
Let's be fair here, we can't complain. We have to remember we didn't pay full price for our TVs. We traded up from an existing BV10-46. I'm happy enough that my dealer will take in my previous TV, discounting the newer model. I wouldn't expect him to throw in a BL14 on top of this trade-in deal based on us paying £3xxx for our BV11's!
I payed full price for mine, and would only have a problem if i had literally just bought one. Hope it brings in some trade for the dealers anyway.
Schlaumeier: ... last year i bought a (fullprice) bv 10 two months before the bv 11-release... dealer and b&o told me before my decision, that there are no plans for a new tv... for me it was a kick in the ass!!!

Your dealer probably desperately needed the money...
Too long to list....

Graham, I'm sure this isn't really a "strategy" per se, but a forced move to keep the cash flow going. B&O is very close to running out of money. If that happens, who knows these days if there's any more financing to be had, the end may be near then.
It is just a sign that the BV's are getting less expensive in the future.
