Hi, I acquired a Beogram 6000 early this year and found that the tonearm wouldn't lower. After reading the advice about lubricating the relevant parts it still wouldn't lower although I could clearly hear the solenoid clicking. I solved the problem by removing the top plates so I could see what was going on and pressing start. The problem was immediately clear to someone such as myself with no electronics experience beyond wiring passive guitar circuitry. When the solenoid clicked out the spring to the left of the solenoid was imparting no action on the axle and therefore having no effect on the damper mechanism. Basically it had lost its spring and was merely expanding upon the solenoid piston clicking out. I couldn't find any direct replacements online so I took a chance and bought a multi-pack of springs from Maplin and swapped the ineffective spring for a 4.8 x 44.5mm extended spring. The result? I have been happily re-discovering  my record collection problem free for the last six months and thought I should share my experience in case it helps someone else out with their tonearm problem.
