Hi i have a beocenter 9500 and 2 pentas with green re outs..i am not sure which pentas they are..the system is from 93..i have never had a problem with my speakers. I have been traveling and just returned..when i plugged in my pentas, the display worked fine but i can only hear a small sound at max volume...until its turned up i hear nothing..in both speakers..at max its still only a whisper.. The speakers are aware of all action from 9500 just no sound.. Could my cables have gone out? I am in north Carolina and about an hour from b and o store.. Can i order new cables..if so which ones? I just ordered the cable to connect my ipad and i was so disappointed not to crank it up.. Thank you for any advice..i do not have my manual anymore Christine

There is a mute function, maybe the Relais is broken.

Turn the Sound Level down and press mute serveral times - that might help.

What do you mean by plugging in the penta's?

Did it work properly before?

Make sure that you attached the cables in the proper powerlinksocket and that the switches are set on Left and Right at the penta's.

Hi..

i used the round ended cables..

i plugged them into power link 1 and 1 and chose auto..then the same with 2 and 2

They worked fine before

when they are at high volume now with the low sound sometimes a giant "pop" of noise or static starts but stops quickly..

we tried connecting the ipod compadible cable directly into bottom of speaker and same muffled low low sound..

i believe we also tried left and right settings i believe..

ive just tried everything..i will try yhe mute button as suggested above now..

thank you all.

Also, i bought regular speaker wire..is it possible to test my pentas on another receiver that is not b and o? Thanks..that way i will know if it is a speaker or cable issue..it is just strange that the same problem is with both...i am sure and hoping..that it is an error on my part with connectivity.

Thanks again, there is not much info online..only i found the manual but no troubleshooting section.

Hi,

When using Powerlink, the Pentas should not be set to Auto, but Left and Right. The Input Level should be on the highest setting (three lines).

If they still doesn't work it would point to the sound system. You could use a non-b&o system through SpeakerLink if it comes to that.

But make sure the settings are correct first.

If you get the power amplifier at the base of the Pentas out of the way, there is a nice set of speaker binding posts to be found.  It's kind of a fiddly job and requires some Torx bits, a good sharp screwdriver, a 5.5mm wrench, and patience.

I did exactly this with my Penta gen. 1 or 2 last week when one of them started emitting a loud hum; a Peachtree Decco now powers them very enjoyably.  Personally I prefer running the Pentas this way, although it was not the original intent of the designers...

On that topic, I would be willing to send one working set of Penta base electronics, and one almost-but-not-quite-working set, to anyone who wants them for the cost of shipping from the northeast USA.

Hi well they were working fine:)

i orderdd new speaker wire because problem started again.max volume barely sound

new 8pin cables worked fine for a day

now only the left one works and is green

the right one is red and if unplugged the left one will not work

i did not know they are interconnected.

i found a short on the wite from wall socket to speaker on bottom of speaker. When i wiggle this the left goes out and the right althpugh has power , reads input and volume level stays red with no sound

powerlink one is set to right and link 2 is set to left both are on highest inpit level

beocenter 9500 2 pentas

thanks for any ideas..at least one works!
