I know the list price is the US isn't the final price, but if B&O do reduce the basic list price by $3,000 for a 46(which i have on order) for the US market only i shall be extremely p**sed off. Time will tell.
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
Chris Townsend:Time will tell.
Chris, if I was in your position I would be talking to your dealer NOW!

Guys, wasn`t the originally price of $ 9,995 a bit high? In Germany the latest price is as follows.
BeoVision 10-46 only TV-Panel € 6.660,-
LOEWE bild 5.55 OLED + AppleTV; BS4; BL9; BL8000 MKII all black

In the UK, the anti-reflection screen is included in the price, same with the DVB-HD. Mind you, the UK RRP is EUR 9500 (£7900) or....$12500!
I'm stunned that the BV10-46 has been reduced to $6500, which is the equivalent of only £4000, which is HALF the UK RRP!
I might have to have a word with my dealer regarding my recent BV10-46 purchase.
Why you all get exited about this?
US market has been always like this check out Mercedes prices in US and in Europe, same for the Porsche, Look at Apple products... I phone cost double of US market... There are millions of examples of price differences.
I believe 3000 USD discount just to get some market share and just to see how market react... Bang & Olufsen is in difficult situation and they are trying to find a way to get back to good old days...

Doesn't make it right though, does it? Half the price of my BV10-46? Half? 50%. You can't even get a 5% discount in the UK. I could understand if it was a 20% off deal, but it brings the price in at HALF the UK RRP.
Chris is right. You can't get away with things like that now - we're in an international market and, ironically, the US has the highest wages in the world.
Spoke to my dealer at lunch and they have no BV10 deals/promos forthcoming nor knew anything about the US promo.
moxxey, I understand you and Chris but this is the reality that's all I'm saying...
Germany is the motherland of the Automotive industry. As I wrote you the brands like Mercedes and Porsche is selling their made in Germany cars cheaper (up to 50%) in USA than Germany !!! What should we do? Shoot'em All?
Whatever,
you can not discount a premium product 30%. That would be simply the end of you image.
That's true.
B & O did it once with Beosound 2 worldwide.
US market must be dying.
Gregory
H guys,
Didn't we discuss in the previous forum that when the new CEO took over that there would be a rationalisation of the pricing structure? I thought we also discussed that years ago B&O TV's were marginally more expensive than the competition then they were like 3, 4 times the cost? Just trying to remember is all.
I say if they do reduce the price of the BV's in other countries it is to make way for the B&O TV.
This strategy is not purely limited to Bang & Olufsen, many other companies once they reach significant economies of scale reduce the price. I appreciate that I'm not in your position of just purchased a television. Just saying is all.
I hope they announce something for the Australian market.
Cheers
MH
Chris Townsend:Loewe might have percentage differences in its new tv talked about on these forums, but that only costs £2,500. When the difference is a good night out well ok, but if it's the price of my old Nissan patrol 4x4!!!!
Chris, B&O UK are planning BV10 deals in May and June. These will include free speakers (BL11 etc) or discounts (which will differ per dealer). Ok, this is nothing like the US discount, but better than nothing.
mickhoog: I hope they announce something for the Australian market. Cheers MH
I'd be surprised if anything is done in Australia regarding substantial special offers or discounts.

Yest another example of rip off Britain. You can add high business rates , rents and lines of empty shops to the mix while you're at it.
Im amazed B&o still sell on the high street tbh.
Flappo: Yest another example of rip off Britain.

Another example of a whinging Brit :)
In my business, computer software is actually cheaper in the UK than US. We have online stores in the UK and States, and it's much easier to compete in the States. Amazon UK, for example, regularly reduces their prices so heavily that they make only 1% from every sale.
Plus, when you compare electronics in the UK compared to Australia, New Zealand and other territories, you'll find we're actually very competitive. God only knows why the Aussies put up with some of their prices! Not only is the AUD performing better than USD, you'll nearly always find AUD prices 20-25% higher than USD. Makes it easy for my company to do business there as GBP prices are very competitive, too!
On top of this, how many countries have a Lifestyle AV or MoreThanAV where they can buy discounted B&O kit? Not many countries. We should count ourselves lucky!
So, not everything electronic is "rip off Britain". Too much Daily Mail reading, I'm afraid.
I actually rent out two shops in Notting hill , so I do speak from experience actually. I don't waste my time on the biased media.
Business rates is simply an utterly outrageous and immoral stealth tax. along with every imagine able rip off stealth tax the council and the government can think up to pay off the debt their masters in the banking sector can think up to make them waste as much money as possible and keep paying the interest payments.
If you've managed to avoid that , well done. Please don't assume I glean all my information from the controlled meda. I'm not David Cameron thank you.
Pretty darn good discount.
Too long to list....

Actually I think Luxemborg has the highest wages in the world ;)
At the end of the day it's a promotion ... there are plenty of promotions that don't make it stateside but that's just the nature of the business. Further, keep in mind that ANY manufacturer's products are significantly less in the US. Wages are certainly not higher, but it still remains the largest consumer market in the world. I remember one time I was in Seoul and I forgot my camera at home. I figured might as well just buy one while I'm there but unfortunately I couldn't justify it as a Samsung point and shoot was STILL 20-25% more than had I purchased it in the US.
If you really want that to change you should consider convincing your friends and everyone you know to spend their money more recklessly on things they don't need (ie. the American way). Maybe then all of this pricing disparity might start to level out globally!
Interesting conversation. The simple answer is they probably misjudged the market and imported too many Beovision 10s. None of the other Beovisions are discounted.
Hi all,
There is a new B&O promotion about to launch in the UK with a sporting summer theme. I'm not entirely sure what products are included but do know that with BV7-40's you get a free Beolab 7-4 which is a substantial discount (off a very high RRP). Not sure if there are deals on BV10. I understand it starts this coming week.

I bought an ex-demo BL11 the other day. Very impressed. Adds a subtle but noticeable difference.
I hope this is just for now, if B&O reduce their prices the secondhand market will also fall. I bought my BV10-46 two months ago, this is not the happiest reading, as I could get more out of my money.
If you compare this to Rolex - Rolex raise their prices with a % every year, making shure that the value in the watches on the market are high.. You buy an expensive piece of watch and 10 years later you can sell it to almost the same price.. If they would lower their prices every year the secndhand market would fall like a stone.. Same with B&O if they lower all their prices..
If the market situation forces you to reduce the prices, then you dont have a choice.. What I mean is that this will notice in the value of the things you have athome too..

If the market situation forces you to reduce the prices, then you dont have a choice.. Perhaps the B&O products are a bit overpriced, I just hope they know what they are doing when the lower the prices so much. This will also show in the second hand market aswell.. All of you who was thinking that this is the time to trade in the old tv - the price of your old tv will also be reduced by I think the same %.. So if the middle price between trade in and new product is the same - who has won? The ones that dont have a tradein tv, unless they are about to sell it on Ebay - the price will fall on this one too..
It would have been a smarter move to keep the higher prices and give a high tradein price for you old tv - you can give the same amount of discount, it just looks different, and the secondhand market would not fall as much..
First base economics - atleast in my book :) I just want to say that I am drinking my morning coffe, our son kept me awake from 3 to 6 - now so If Im mumbling be gentle, since I did not get too much sleep ;)
I guess it just proves how over priced ttheir kit is , especially the tv's
£8k for a 46 LCD is just plain mad.

... i can understand, that you are not satisfied with the speculations of discounts after buying a beovision for a normal price. but i do not agree your argumentation. the prices for new b&o-products are simply too high (in relation to quality and features and in comparison to other companies). and lower prices for the second hand-market would be okay as well. it is an urgent need to do so.
You have a point that the B&O products are overpriced, still there are alot of people that still buy them.. :) Perhaps that tells more about us "idiots, like myself" that buy thing for full price that people in average...
You are right! I am (was) one of these idiots too... But no doubt, I will change it!
You think you guys have it bad? Spare a thought for us poor Australians...
Beosound 8 is $1495 AUD here, $999 USD in the US. At today's exchange $999USD = $967.72AUD plus US facebook users get 15% off and free extra covers (ugly ones though)
Beovision 10-40 here in Australia is $12390AUD
This equals $12789USD, 9745EUR or 8032GBP!
Clearly there is no price parity around the world......

What people almost Lways forget is that US prices are net, in Europe if I am not mistaken on average 20% tax are included.
2nd, if Iam not mistaken the US TVs come without TV tuner, so it might be cheaper to produce.
I do agree though, that buying most things at this point in the US is cheaper, I am German living in the US and rarely shop when back at home.
JK
as was previously said:
"First, US base list price doesn't include anything : no anti reflect screen, no stand, no dvb-hd, no remote. Even no labour like some americans stated before (you pick it up and you install it yourself in most cases).
Second, we, europeans have prices includind VAT (19, 6 % in france). In the US prices are without VAT"
The US price of the anti screen is $1000 and the stand another $1000. The sale price puts it line with the Danish export price. I wishI got a 5 year warrenty with mine. Now, if that sale price is complete with stand & glass going to get 2 more.
By the way, I have had mine for about 9 months and its still not programed with PUC's. I have been try to get someone to enter them. Found a dealer 200 miles away who will do it for $1500, and only if a buy a Beo remote 6 from them. I can fly someone in from Denmark for $1500. Also in the USA these TV's are not TV's they are just monitors, there is no tuner, you must have a set-top box. When you think about it, that still a lot of money for a monitor.
