PhilLondon:

... and as we can see on the pic, they are completely wireless Big Smile

And one reason why they are primarily made of wood :)

Not sure too about the new BeoLab.

I like the wood and aluminium association, but i thought that the form would be a little different from the original 8000. Something like a "high heel" form as Roger said before.

McCartney... could B&O have picked anyone more out of date? Huh?

Big Smile

I don't want to be mean, but you are right.

Trying to get hip with the youngsters I presume. LOL

The first picture looks promising... Are these 3 separate speakers???

Could the first one even be a new Beolab 5 killer??? "Redefining an icon" !

They could have asked John Mayer and recorded the show directly at the Farm in Struer.

He`s playing anyway tonight just about 30 miles away....and I will be there...:-)

BTW: not too sure about the "new 8003"...

Stefan

Now there's a thought!

Too long to list....

I was hoping something small and robust... The 8003 looks strange in my eyes... But have to see it in proper pics still.

Too long to list....

I couldn't get on the Q&A. I just got a server error, here ("System.InvalidOperationException")! Not seen anything apart from the preview pics, earlier. Talk about a stealth announcement :)

Release new (vague) product related news before announcing (not that good) financial results.

... wait for 2 weeks

Get a Beatle to speak about his new album; show a new product in background.

... still wait 2 weeks before releasing news about the actual products.

Marketing poeple... sometimes you just want to inflict some pain on them :P :P :P

I wonder how many non-B&O customers watched it ............. very, very few I would imagine! I hope he did it for a free pair of speakers and didn't cost a fortune!!!

To be fair, how many run-of-the-mill B&O customers are going to have logged on at 2pm on a working day and sit there hoping to see a preview of new B&O tech? Seriously? I couldn't even get on, for example.

So, nothing on the new sub?

I must say I didn't expect a presentation of new Beolabs today. Just because I have never heard something about a marketing devision in Struer (but on the moon)!

A sneak peek from the interview before the official pics Wink

I am glad I did not stay up until midnight for this - I really expected more B&O content to accompany the event ...

Peter Pans has also posted a link that includes a smaller picture (prehaps cropped from this one?) and a Youtube link that seems to have a privacy block.

I have to say that I worried unnecessarily about the lens on top killing the understated elegance of the BL8000, from that picture I think the wood makes them look too thick and frankly quite awkward, catching sight of the lens is almost an afterthought.

Still, there maybe alternate finishes and maybe even an unwooded version, (I would quite like to see a BL8000 with a conventional but curved fret).

I'm also still keen to learn about the internals - since the signal will be received digitally there is the opportunity for DSP to better optimise the signal to each driver and therefore the response of the speaker as a whole.

Think about a BL8000 with an integrated ALT. It could easily be done. Where the tweeter used to be, hidden.  The tweeter ALT isn't exactly a big construction. It's about as wide as the tweeter, perhaps a bit bigger. A tweeter commonly used by B&O is 3/4". This looks bolt on!

Let me take out my crystal ball....

I see no big sales for B&O.

Big Mistake from B&O to change an Icon products like the BeoLab 8000 !! David Lewis was the best designer definitively.

So there is a wooden 8000 with an ALT, a sub like a cone and some bookshelf speakers. What do they look like and cost?

you can see very good in the sneak preview screenshot with Mr. Cartney , while he's sitting the ALT lens remains way aboove his head. For what I know ALT tech. can only spread sound horizontally. so fail design to me. And many furnitures are even lower than this one here.

Triple post, and I'm sorry - but wood is a bold move.

There are many types of wood - and if the wood on the speakers is at odds with your floor or furniture, you won't be buying it..

You're right Lee. Look at the "wood" in the picture. There's 4 different kinds/colour. Looks awful! One of the perks with aluminum and plastics. It's not everywhere...

In Scandinavia most homes have wood flooring. Often Oak. We had a big problem when we moved this spring... Oak flooring, meant we needed oak tables.

Maybe I'm just too picky - but from my own experience with B&O users, we're a picky bunch. We like uniformity, we like perfection - we appreciate it!

My apologies to the Wedthredders©, but -  there was this company that made a wooden fronted speaker, they placed it in a wooden decorated room, they tried to launch it by associating it with a wooden coloured ex-pop star, they tried to post a video on Yewtube ............ unfortunately it wooden work!!

You are not too picky. Big Smile

You sound like a scandi. Big Smile

Wood flooring will mean those 8000 will easily look out of place.
