WOW! I really like it. It is a mix between the old Lewis Design i really like and something new. Would perfectly fit into my dining room..... ;)))))))

I also have a mixture between different wood types - and it looks good for me. I am really looking foward to hear them play in the store.

Triple post, and I'm sorry - but wood is a bold move.

There are many types of wood - and if the wood on the speakers is at odds with your floor or furniture, you won't be buying it..

My apologies to the Wedthredders©, but -  there was this company that made a wooden fronted speaker, they placed it in a wooden decorated room, they tried to launch it by associating it with a wooden coloured ex-pop star, they tried to post a video on Yewtube ............ unfortunately it wooden work!!

Embarrassed I'll get my coat!

What a conservative lot!

A bit of wood trim and folk are having multiple panic attacks.

Anyone recall the "Teak or Rosewood" 80s?

Compared to some hi end speakers [Sonus Faber et al] they are quite polite looking.

Word on the street is that they will be available in different wood stains to match your fung shwayed loft  apartments. Gotta please the footballers wives and not just the black roll neck brigade.

Besides, the grilles are removable, so you can always customise them with a speaker grille frame covered with your acoustically transparent material of choice.

They look good in ebony. But don't ask me how I know.

I'm all for them including wood back into the products, as some reference to classic products like the Beomaster 2400 etc. And I have many types of wood in my place. But that new speaker is a design fail. As someone else stated above, it looks like an early design study before they decided on the final look of the lab 8000. The proportion of the cast iron base is wrong, and as for the stiletto heel part - the original was supposed to reference an organ pipe, not a hooker's shoe.  I already own 8000's so I guess I don't need another pair,  I won't be upgrading or replacing them with this.

New product launch opinion repeats itself as usual.

Gotta see and feel them in the flesh, as usual. They even smell good.

I wonder how many non-B&O customers watched it ............. very, very few I would imagine! I hope he did it for a free pair of speakers and didn't cost a fortune!!!

Ban boring signatures!

I watched it for a few minutes on youtube, it said appr. 1.200 people were watching.

Sorry, but not numbers about how many of those were

a. b&o owners

b. paul mccartney fans

c. beoworld members

I suppose b. was the highest number, according to the live comments of the users.

Will ask NSA for details.....

1200 is a rather low number, but in the next few days you'll see a tons of blogs that will post about it, giving a good exposure to the brand.

You're right Lee. Look at the "wood" in the picture. There's 4 different kinds/colour. Looks awful! One of the perks with aluminum and plastics. It's not everywhere...

In Scandinavia most homes have wood flooring. Often Oak. We had a big problem when we moved this spring... Oak flooring, meant we needed oak tables.

Too long to list....

sorry, I don't agree, we have maple floor and oak table....

for me it is better to have a contrast (floor / furniture)

still, the design is not for me (telling from the bad pictures), but I can see their point... and would not be surprised if these sell well. Maybe you will be able to choose frome several woods/materials?

I'll take the white keys if you take the black, then I would have a match for our decor - but pure wood sadly will not fit our main room - which is our largest and where only the BL 6000s are currently accepted.

I had really hoped that these would have high WAF in this household since the BL5s are disavowed and even the BL9s are looked upon with suspicion ...

Big Mistake from B&O to change an Icon products like the BeoLab 8000 !! David Lewis was the best designer definitively.

you can see very good in the sneak preview screenshot with Mr. Cartney , while he's sitting the ALT lens remains way aboove his head. For what I know ALT tech. can only spread sound horizontally. so fail design to me. And many furnitures are even lower than this one here.

Even if they are wireless they still need to be plugged in to mains.  It is obvious here they are simply window dressing for this event.

Is it just me or does it seem that B&O is just taking the easy way of re-skinning older iconic designs instead of creating new iconic designs?  Maybe next we will see a Beovox 2500 or maybe a Penta with an acoustic lens?

I'm beginning to wonder if B&O has not painted themselves into a corner with this acoustic lens technology?  With so much invested in this idea there is no possibility to pursue any other ideas?

Yes the ALT lens is way to high for listening while seated. The wonderful sound they disperse is going to go right over the listeners head :-(

They have showed that they can work without the ALT with their Beolab 14. Not that we have to discuss this speaker but look have many have seen the speaker on youtube= 1,800,000 people that is impressive.

I do not think that through the testing of this speaker they did not have focus on the ALT and it's way to perform in a sitting position.

I do not think this speaker is for me but I love the wood and hope to see a lot of that in the future.

Oh No, Oh No, how can they destroy such a beautiful design, it totally brings the dimensions out of proportion, must be the same designer as the satellite dish on chopsticks. Never ever going to buy one.

No he has photoshop but I get the message. I'm trying to be positive about them because I haven't actually seen them. If I was given a collection of spare parts, and blend that with my total lack of style and complete engineering ignorance, they are what I'd probably come up with.

A poor almost immature redesign of a simple elegant masterpiece. Just my opinion.

A certain synergy between the speakers in the Shard and the buildings in the background - skyscraperesque.

I think they look both handsome and cheeky. The Alt seemingly peeking over a fence. Nice that B&O have a sense of humour.

As soon as my Beolab 8000 Mk 2 speakers sell [in the classifieds if anyone is interested] I may well order a set.

Say thank you to B&O, your Mk 2es just got a price hike, people who waited for the new speakers, are now going to look for Mk 2.

I've just realized one of the reasons I hate this is that the base now looks like they used the tooling from that modern classic the Playmaker.

Wow, not excited about this... Why not just put the ALT on top of the Beolab 8002. It would look fine.

Maybe the timber slats can be interchanged with something a little less wooden?

B&O just made this week go to he°°, last week it was the Italian soccer team playing 2-2 against DK, I´m in shock, must drink at least 3 cubas to get somehow back to normal. Denmark was in the top of "the happiest people in the world" this must get them down on the ground. Copenhagen should have some of the worlds best designers, maybe they dont like Struer.

Not yet but happy to eat my hat if they sound wonderful and better than by BL8s when seated. I'm hoping that they do but just can't understand how, when the other ATL speakers are placed at a listening height when seated or are adjustable so you can point them towards the listening position
