Perhaps B&O are making a product that will appeal to a younger generation and not us old pipe and slippers generation ?
I will buy a new Bv as I am leaving the Avant in the house I am selling but otherwise I could not see myself changing much equipment.

Since when does the 'younger generation' buy wooden hi-fi equipment? And 'us' being the pipe and slippers generation? I'm not even 40 and plenty of others on here are of a similar age!

I'm 32, and won't be buying the BL8003. I do have a set of BL8000.
Too long to list....
In decoration/design the 50's and 60's are coming back, this means more wood/metal.
I thiink this is a good news because like some old b&o stuffs with wood, when it is well done it is warmer and eye catching.

Chris Townsend:Yes and yes
Will B&O offer non-wood front grilles, or do you mean possible in the sense that third parties could make front grilles?

I guess we will find out when we launch them.
I'm not excited by the pictures but will reserve judgement until I see them as we don't know the full story yet. My wife has said even based on the pictures she would find them much more acceptable in the house than 8000s, or any other recent speaker.
As someone else said wood and the whole retro thing is very in at the moment.

I am 54-never smoked or owned slippers !
I have two sets of 8000's and a pair of lab 1's and will not be changing them either
Never occured to you that B&O did not make the BL17 for you.
They make/made them for those, who did not (want to) buy the BL800x.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

As always, the first pics of a new B&O product on BeoWorld is very controversial !
And as always, ve can really judge the product in store.
I am impatient to see, touch and admire the craftmanship, and of course, to listen to this new model.
These first pics extracted from the youtube video do not return justice to the BeoLab. It's just a "first contact".
So, the october 30th is there soon, and let's see first the official presentation on the website and after, let's go to the store !
Steph is right we will have to see it in the flesh, and hear it. Meanwhile I found a way to disguise the ugly ALT.

To wood, or not to wood - that is the question...
Heribert:I Hope they sound as they look like and my BV11 can be upgraded to the wireless sound distribution.
According to a dealer I spoke to a couple of days ago, only the BV11's that were delievered recently (?) are ready for wireless.
All other (and some other BV's - he did not specify) need an external transmitter. No details yet.

They look awesome from this angle. I like what they did to the base, the smoth curves of the chassis, and the chromy finish.
The old base was cool, but over time I got tired of how massive it was.
The new base kind of disappears, which puts the actual chassis more in the spotlight like it should be.
For comparison:
From what I can see in the pictures the new 8000s look all fine to me. The ALT on top does not spoil the design and will probably lead to an improvement in sound quality. I would even say that the ALT puts a stronger emphasis on a the organ pipe inspired design. Also the wood is a great idea and depending on the precise offerings will integrate well into many environments. I hope and think that these will sell well. I like these much better already than the "evolution" in the 8002s.
Rgds, Kai
The wood may well create a mellow feel visually and acoustically ? I'm thinking of the old Roberts radios which seem to inspire the Beolit 12, which had a great sound .
they do look like a very special evolution .

Alright.... and only because no one else did......
You know who they should have got to promote these speakers instead of Paul McCartney?
Edward Woodward!!!!

Thats funny because he has Wood in his name.
@Räeber - I am sure they forgot to test it with the 'wooden grill' on
@Jonathan - they tried to get him, but he was burried too deep ⛪
I'm guessing mainly low frequency tones will come out the front, while most of the treble and higher register will come from the ALT.
