No. Your guess is wrong...

I won't say anything about the Apple one, but jeez is Tue Mantoni self-good...? He just had to appear once again. Perhaps he should have taken up modeling?

And what has a fighter jet to do with this??? Could just as well have put a bus, if they're trying to draw the connection to the aluminum? Or perhaps a forrest? Or an apple tree?

Sad.

Why should I be happy after seeing the teaser ? Tell me frankly if you want buy the new speakers.

Personnally, nothing sensual in the pictures and nothing magical point of view that catch the eyes.

For me this teaser suggest nothing. I refer again to Apple Mac Pro teaser which is very mysterious and attractive...

Americans are very professionnal to create the envy to buy their products.

Ok... like many Beofans, I will keep preciously my Beoproducts designed by David Lewis.

Good bye Bang & Olufsen. Good bye....

Hello 'Good-byeBoy68',

I do admire your ability to judge a product of which you have only seen a glimse of - and only a detail of it.

A product that you haven't seen 'in the flesh' or have heard.

You must be one hell of a genius.

Me - I'll wait with my 'judgement day' until after the launch on the 30th and the presentation at my dealer the day after.

I'm afraid you are right! All three look horrible!

I seriously hope these designs are a joke... The Sub?! Or what is that blob? Looks awkward.

The toilet pusher? Wall mounted, with the sic-sac pattern on it... Makes me seasick.

Let's change the label of these new Beolabs to "Matsui" and see what the replies would be?

I'm sure no-one would be waiting to see them live before passing judgment.

This is just all wrong!

Could it be that having to drive the company primarily from short-term financial considerations is resulting in poor aesthetics and engineering?

Perhaps, but if so, they are only making it worse.

There's plenty of examples of "lets' cut this one short" resulting in a faster deterioration of the financial state of a company.

Teaser video for the new Labs Wink

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xEuDzt-xCU

I have now watched the clip 3 times ... and paused it in full screen mode many times ... I thought it was reasonable.

Also the quality of the materials appears better than the pictures that Peter Pans posted - which are the ones that everyone is rep sting with justifiable scorn.

(not sure about Tue at the seaside - but that section of the teaser seems to be about sound reproduction rather than inspiration, design, quality, and manufacturing ?)

((or perhaps it is symbolic of ue waiting for B&O's boat to come in ?? Big Smile))

I encourage you to replay in slow motion - or with many pauses Smile

BeoBoy68:

Why should I be happy after seeing the teaser ?

Because B&O are making a great teasing video which is a whole new approach for them and many members have yelled for more hype before a product release. This is Tue's work a man with big skills in for branding (I totally get that you don't like this teaser but objective seen it is a new approach and a better video then we have ever seen from B&O: Please prove me wrong)

Tell me frankly if you want buy the new speakers.

Unlike you I have not made a decision before I have seen, heard or known the price range of these products, but I am exited to see more about the sub to compliment my BL 3.

Personnally, nothing sensual in the pictures and nothing magical point of view that catch the eyes.

I can't say anything about your feelings about this teaser but looking at it objective (as good as possible) There is a very teasing moment in not knowing the whole truth(which is not the case with Mac pro) Also the work with wood which lets be honest have been a strength for many years ago but we have not seen any in the last 20 years (Beoplay does not count) so to see and almost feel the wood again is defiantly a sensual thing.

For me this teaser suggest nothing. I refer again to Apple Mac Pro teaser which is very mysterious and attractive...

Nothing mysterious about it apple had shown specs and real life picture before hand (though well made as you expect from a company with a bit more resources then B&O)

Americans are very professionnal to create the envy to buy their products.

I would not say that americans stands out in that point but please show more examples.

Ok... like many Beofans, I will keep preciously my Beoproducts designed by David Lewis.

I am sorry that you cannot move on but I will give you time :)

Good bye Bang & Olufsen. Good bye....

Good morning Bang & Olufsen and welcome to a new, different and for some scary time.

I understand; however Emilos made so good points but I do disagree on others

There is sensuality about wood on teaser - that may be a good thing

I still remember being chilled by Tue's statement in the Stuer auditorium last year ...

"My biggest problem is that every 12 months the average of my existing customer base increases by one year"

He is trying many tactics and pulling all sorts of levers to address being aspirations to the Gen Y segment ... Let us pray that some these succeed !

This is the same problem car makers Cadillac and Lincoln face over here. Both are desperately courting younger buyers with new models, with limited success.

One has to wonder, for a brand like B&O, and to a lesser degree the car makers, if some of the problem is that their products are priced too high for a younger market? Certainly younger buyers will spend money, and there are car brands that are pricey but trend younger, but still. The global recession has almost made the younger generation a lost one of crippling unemployment and reduced expectations which has to have an effect. And finding that magic that will persuade a younger market to pay for your gear is hard, trendy is hard to predict or force fit. I think its particularly hard if you're a car company with the image of being for old farts.

The shape of the 17 and 19 are not really caught in these pictures - the 17 is a development of the 4000 but with more of a triangular shape - look at the other teaser photos for a side view - Specs wise it is also interesting. The Bl19 is also interesting - one could say you are only seeing half the story. The 18 has so far only been seen with the oak finish - better in black imho.

After what I have seen so far, I am somewhat disappointed with the "new" B&O designs. :(

I have to admit that I buy B&O products mostly for their design. But from what I gather from many dealers, I am not the only one...

I used to want products just after seeing them for the first time, sometimes by just looking at the pictures... Specs and price were not of primary  importance. I would find an use for the product and a way to justify the price to myself. ;) In recent years (starting with B&O Play), I just haven't felt that magic anymore. There just hasn't been a "revolutionary" design.

David Lewis created shapes, that nobody had thought of before when creating electronic products. Just looking at the Beolab 8000, Beolab 5, Beolab 3 and Beolab 11 made me want to have them. The same goes for the Beosound 9000, Beovision 5 and Beovision 7. They were just different and the Beocenter 2 looked like something out of Star Trek. :)

I know that design is a matter of taste and that is probably why there are also a lot of products designed by David Lewis that I didn't like at all. But at least he always tried to go new paths.

I just hope that the magic will come back, because otherwise I will be stuck with a lot of outdated electronic equipment one day.;)

Beovision 11-55, Beovision 10-46, Beovision 7-40, Beocenter 6-23, Beosound 9000, Beolab 18, Beolab 19, 2xBeolab 3, Beolab 8000, Beolab 6000, Beolab 2, Beocom 6000, Beosound 3, Playmaker

I am still wondering why there are no details or rumors regarding the new audio system to be launched as well. More of a tablet-style than the current BS5... I can not be the only one with access to information from the dark side?
