I'm replacing BeoSystem 1 with Beosystem 3 and need help with setup. This is the list of components to be connected:
1. Panasonic 60 plasma monitor 2. Speakers: BL8000, BL6000, BL2 BL7-13 BeoSound 9000
Before disconnecting completely disconnecting BS1 I have tried following:1. Connected TV HDMI input - DISPLAY 1 on BS32. Connected IR receiver to IR-IN on BS3 (headphone jack type)Once pressed TV on Beo4 BS light changed from green to orange. I assume BS3 is on.however TV screen is black, I know that I'm not feeding any video signal to BS3 but I was expecting BS3 menu to be displayed on TV.Do I need to input video signal into BS3 in order to access the menu? Thanks in advance

To verify that TV input is accepting HDMI source, connected HDMI to laptop - TV shows the laptop screen, so no problem with the TV input.I guess BeoSystem 3 is not outputting any signal?

Is it possible that BeoSystem 3 outputs 1080p signal which my Panel is unable to handle?
Am unsure if you have to change the IR sensor too - unlikely that the sensor wiring is the same, appears that it isn't triggering RS232 on pin
no, have seen plenty used with 720p panels
To my memory, the screen on my Beovision 9 is connected to the Beosystem 3 using a DVI cable. HDMI are only inputs?
Too long to list....
You need to configure the BS3 to switch on the plasma etc.

I was using VGA to connect to BeoSyetem 1
Did you try pressing the "menu" button on the beo4 twice to get to the setup menu? Pressing "menu" only once might just bring up the menu overlay for the current device used (e.g., V.MEM, SAT, DVD) - which has not been set up yet so you wouldn't see a menu overlay. Pressing the "menu" button twice is what brings up the BeoSystem 3 setup menu, from which you can select the connected tv and resolution.
Thank you frog!It looks like what I need however since I'm not able to display any BS menu's I can't get to these settings.Perhaps someone can suggest sequence of remote operations I can enter to disable autodetect option?
Just to be clear I'm not looking to control Panel at the moment - just trying to get the Panel to show BS3 menus.
Just an ordinairy DVI computer screen will work with BS3.
Connect only the screen and a ir-eye and it should work!
I've had several weeks ago a system 3 here with a fault. Normally the BS3 is tested on the bench without a B&O panel. Regardless the RS232 commands, it should work.
The BS3 recognizes (or does not) the panel and starts in a standard video mode.
Service modes are accessed bij 0 0 Go and Red Arrow Go.
As BeoBuddy suggested borrowed computer monitor and connected to BS3.Screen showed BS3 menu. I went to display resolution settings for DISPLAY 1 and noticed that resolution was set to 1366 x 768p!Once I changed it to 1280 x 720p and reconnected to the Plasma Panel - I got the picture.I guess If I had reset BS3 to factory settings it would solve the problem - since default resolution is 640 x 480p
Thank you all!David

Nice to hear that all worked out well!
Enjoy the BS3, it's a big step forward compared with the BS1 or BS2! Lots of inputs, PUC support, Video engine etc...
I just went through the same process to set up my BeoSystem 3 with a non-B&O monitor. When I first hooked it up, the monitor would not display anything. Used the reset command to restore to 640x480 and then chose the best screen resolution 1280x720 was it. The I set the programming option to work properly with my BS 6500 with a beolink converter. Then I set up my Beolab Penta speakers in the right roles and ports. I had a little set back after one Penta only worked using the second powerlink port - the first did not function. Before I had the speakers properly configured, I was getting some very rude noises from the right rear surround Penta. Now all of that is behind me and I'm trying to refine my settings in a 4.1 channel configuration.

Hi, I am a newbie, I know this post is old but hopefully someone will read. I have the same issue, tried to connect to the computer monitor, showed the settings but will not let me do initial set up, how long does the bs3 need to be off before it recognises first time switch on. On display 1 it is set for bv4 50, only it wont display on my screen, the screen is working. Many thanks in advance. Paul.
