Hi,
I have just tried to connect my BV5 to my beomaster 4500 via a beolink converter. The beomaster is set to option 0 and the Bv to option 2, as per previous threads.
i could not get the BV to send any commands, so thought it must be the beolink converter, so tried with a BS3000 connect with master link , and again could not get any response. Tried a different masterlink cable and still nothing.
anyone know what I am doing wrong, or could try?
thanks
toby
Which cable(s) did you use to connect the converter and the BM4500?
When you have connected everything, be sure to power on the converter ad the last component of the three.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Did make sure that the converter was turned on last.
Even with the BS3000 connected over ML the BV5 does not control the CD player
Did the standby led blink when putting the bv 5 in option 2?
Does the bv 5 switch on after a cd command?
Thanks for the replies.
the BV5 does blink when put into option 2 (red light blinks once).
the BV does not turn on when I press cd.
i have tried with a BV6 to check it's not the converter and am able to connect via cd through the BV6. So guess it must be the BV5,
is there any thing else I can do?
What sometimes does happen is that the pins inside the ML socket on the back of the BV5 are bend.
Due to sometimes little working space behind the BV5, it happens that the ML connector is not pressed with the right angle. That can cause damaged pins.
Thanks for for all the suggestions, looks like it is the ML module.
any idea how easy this is to replace? Or is it a job for an engineer and if so any idea much much we are looking at?
Toby
The Masterlink manual tends to suggest both should be set as option 1 (if in the same room) if the TV has the Masterlink socket and the Beomaster is on the Datalink side of the BeoLink converter.

Thanks,
tried option 1 still nothing through the tv. Guessing it is the ML unit
Below taken from my BM4500 user manual. You might want to try the different options!
Note - that this is not the same as the option setting we need to set to control items linked together but rather, it is setting the BM4500 to use the sockets differently.Connection options
The sockets PH/TP2 and AUX/TV can be progammed to accommodate different types of equipment If for example you want to connect a second tape recorder to the AUX/TV socket you simply change the option of the Beomaster. When the Beomaster 4500 leaves the factory, it is set to the PHONO optionIf the Beomaster is set to the CD option, a second Bang & Olufsen tape recorder can be connected to the AUX/TVsocket instead of a Bang & Olufsen TV.If the Beomaster is set to the TAPE 2 option, a second Bang & Olufsen tape recorder can be connected to the PH/ TP2 socket instead of the Beogram 4500.To set the Beomaster to the option of your choice, you must first switch it to the stand-by mode. Then press PROGRAMMING and 7 simultaneously. The current option is now displayed: PHONO OP, CD OP, or TAPE2 OP. While the option is displayed. press PHONO, CD, or TAPE 2 as appropriate to select your option. It might be that if you have the correct option set it will then allow the beolink converter to communicate with the TV.

Thanks, had missed that in the manuall, but still not the source of the problem.
i can play from the beomaster 4500 when I connect to a beovision 6, so know all the cables and converter all work.
i have entered the service menu and it says an error code for the ML/sl as CI which is apparently a 'address configuration impossible'
a new ML module will be around £300 for just the unit but has to be put in from the front so add labour could be more than the tv cost!
I have brought new cables on an off chance this might help, it has not!
So a summary, BV5 will not link to BM4500 (with BG4500 CD and Record player) through a datalink cable and powerlink going into a Beolink converter type 1614 then ML into the TV. Options set as 2 for the BV and 0 for the BM.
Connecting a BS3000 to the BV5 still nothing. Connect BM4500 to a BV6 i can control the system and listen to sound.
The error message I get from the service menu are:
MLSL error CI,
Info from NVEM (RAM) IO_Error.
MLSL: CON_IMP+
PARAM: 20220000
Any one any idea that I can try before I give up on another broken peice of my B&O collection (been fixed this year has been my beocom 6000, BS3000, BL6000, and a new battery in my beolit 12, so not a great year, still have to fix my BV AV9000)?
Regards
Check the ML socket on the back of the BV5. Take a flashlight to look thoroughly.
This is the ML socket, it looks OK to me.

After a few weeks away from my garden office, due to my son being born, I am back in the office, and I now would like to connect my Beomaster 4500 up to the speakers.
The problem is the speakers and a kef amp are all connected to the BV5 and the masterlink is deffinetly not working. The speakers are Beolab 3000 set to TV on the switch on the side.
What is the easist way to connect both the TV and Beomaster to the speakers, can i simply run power link cables from the TV and the Beomaster to teh two powerlink sockets on the speakers, what are the risks of doing this.
Hope some one can help.
Fix your MasterLink.
My local B&O dealer has said the ML can not be ordered and AVA in Crawley can get the unit as part of whole package including other modules but I have to get the TV to Crawley which I can not do.
Any other options? Any one have a spare ML unit for a BV5 they would like to sell?
Sadly.
The ML board is part of the AV board at the back of the BV5. For that you need to take out the complete wooden chassis from the BV5. All connections to th e panel, speakers, blowers, Cam unit has to be disconnected. Befor that you heve to release the the from bazel, wooden panel.
so, even when your experienced in dismantling the chassis, it takes at least 1-1,5 hour to build and rebuild. After taking the chassis you need to replace the back AV board. Also quit some job with all these sockets ...
As I remember there can be ordered a complete chassis without the eprom. The old chassis returns to denmark. But the new chassis will always a repaired and checked version
Hi badgersurf,
I did not realize that you meant the ML-board.
Mostly 'fixing the ML' is an eay operation - just some cables/junction-box - (depending on where the cables are 'hidden').
It is a pity that the module needs repair - as Beoduddy wrote, not an eay operation.
Only tip I can think of is the PowerLink-switch (stereo) from Almando - to get both connected to the same pair of speakers:
