So the entry level of a "real" Beovision is the BV10-40 (I do not think many people choose the BV10-32 for the living room). So the question is, will there be enough B&O maniacs willing to pay at least 7k for a telly, if somebody can have the same picture quality (not sound, not connection to other systems) for 1.5k-2.0k?
I thought with the new chairman B&O would again built products as the built in past. We only will find B&O at the millionaire fairs, you won`t find many stores in the future.
LOEWE bild 5.55 OLED + AppleTV; BS4; BL9; BL8000 MKII all black
hotknife,
"Kost nix, taugt nichts" !!!
I paid for my Pioneer Professional Plasma Screen almost 4000 Euro in 2005. It's just plastic !!! No integrated speakers, no amplifier, no ML, no DSS, no design, no individuality etc.
Please think about the design, over 1 square meter glass, aluminium frame all around, all these research and development just to get a good sound from that thickness !!! Now they are offering DVB-HD also incl. What else...
B&O products are not comparable with standard products coming mostly from China...
Beovision Avant 55 / BV 11-40 / BV7-40 / Beovision Avant / Beosound 9000 / Beosound 5 Encore / Beosystem 4500 / Beosystem 6500 / Beocenter 9000 / Beolab 5000 / Beolab 18 / Beolab 19 / Beolab 11 / Beolab 17 / 3 sets of Beolab 4000 / Beovox Red Line 60.2
And forgot to mention that I can not get even 100 Euro for my used plasma screen today. After 5 years you still have the possibility to sell your B&O TV for a very good value and you can buy for yourself brand new high tech television from different brand if you do not want to invest anymore money for a new B&O TV...
Which other brand can offer you something like this after 5 years?
Beopiranha,
4 times the price for the same display (Samsung) only for the sound and connection? And are you sure the BV10 is made in Denmark (take a look at nearly all speakers, they are made in Czech Republik)?
10 years ago to shops were full of people admiring B&O stuff. Take a look at the stores now. Regarding TV`s B&O is running nuts.
For 10k I will buy a car but not a telly!
Those born in 70's and begining of 80's has been the last human beings with style "for my point of view". Today, people eating 1 Euro can Ravioli or frozen items buying very short lasting Apple products and having no life style !!!
I'm not expecting from those people to go to Bang & Olufsen and buy a quality products which can be in use over 20 years. Crap Products for Fast Food generation.
You can buy a couch with 300 Euro and you can buy a couch over 10.000 Euro from De Sede. And no body can tell me that these are the same. Same for the kitchen, bed, outfit etc. I call this life style and priority. I have no problem with it if you have a car as prior item than a TV but that does not make Bang & Olufsen pricing wrong...
It is exactly the same if you want to go to 3 stars gourmet restaurant and live there around 300 Euro per person... Is it expensive? No, it is the service you get, it is the creativity you experianced and it is the quality you buy and live !!!
Result : Everything is subjective. It depends where you stand and how you look at in to the subject.
are they using full range loudspeakers in this new tv?
your right, I do not have enough money to buy cheap stuff. But you have to admit, that B&O has left the way of product (at least for TV-sets) for "everybody with style" about 10 years ago. I`m from the 60th and bought my first B&O stuff 25 years ago. When I rent my first flat, the first thing was to buy B&O products. In the past you could decide to buy a very good telly or pay twice the money and get a "entrance" telly form B&O. But those days are gone. And do not say you will keep your B&O telly for at least 10 years. After 3-5 years you end up with a new one. I do not have a problem to spend 10k for Beolab speakers or 3k for a Beosound. They will keep there value and you can "hold" them for a very long time.
5 hdmi ? Crikey ! That's pretty amazing if true .
It's true!
Well , I'm getting one as a monitor for my mac mini then. I'm using an old Bravia that's on it's last legs at the moment. Imagine a genuine bang & olufsen one for c £2 to 3 k . I can see this one flying off the shelves .
Tic tac tic tac... 2nd of may is close and still no pre-launch picture
scognamiglio: Do you have any news on the new beovision 11? I just know 5 hdmi, a slot for the apple tv and some smart Tv Functions... I saw a black and white picture but the design wasn't clear..

I have trolled through the posts, so let me summarise what I think I have read about the V1/V35 (but not the BV11 which now may not be in this FY) and tease out some questions for additional rumours:
Can people refute or clarify this summary (I have used a numbered list so you can be specific in your replies)
................... or even better post a PICTURE
that was a joke, I am actually more interested in data, data, and more data

Floor and ceiling also avaible. Prices in Denmark are 32" 17000 dkk and 40" 22000 dkk. Link will not be posible with V1 but BeoVisions only.
Beofan2: Floor and ceiling also avaible. Prices in Denmark are 32" 17000 dkk and 40" 22000 dkk. Link will not be posible with V1 but BeoVisions only.
Yes, thanks for that
so point 13 reads wall, ceiling or floor
and point 2 said no master link
Using your Danish prices, the units translate to 2,300 euros and 3,000 euros (assuming VAT is the same across rope (I know it is not) and rounding up to the nearest 100s)
A lot of my questions are answered in this Spanish leak when you Google translate it ....

(thanks Windmacher for sprinkling this leak around the three or four threads that we have on this new TV)

Is that the Beolink Converter that we already know (and perhaps have), or is it a new model ?
New Model. Approx. $900USD

3 days to go, and i hope its not too much of a 10 beater considering my recent purchase of it
i know its the way of the world and to get a Beolab 11 thrown in was a great deal, i just hope i don't get that "twinge"
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
I hope that the new NL-ML converter will allow to connect a BS5 Encore to a ML system...
diisign.com
I totaĺy agree with Mbee.
The lack of ML intégration is what stopped me to buy an Encore.
900 USD for the converter is pretty expensive. My previous converter was around 150 USD.
Kind regards,
Yann

900USD is pretty expensive, but this converter has a lot of wirk to do : it has to communicate in ethernet with the TV (Encore??) and output an analog audio/video signal + ML data. You need to have a lot of components to do that!As the NL-ML converter is aimed to be used with a TV, there is a video part integrated which will not be used by the BS5E.
Your old converter was mainly a small amplifier, it's not the same level of complexity.
mbee:900USD is pretty expensive, but this converter has a lot of wirk to do ...
True! To fulfill all your wishes the price would have been much higer - but, by the way, there is an "extra" included, some BeoWorlders miss badly on the PlayMaker. Some of your hopes are a bit exaggerated - VIDEO has NEVER been an integrated part of ML distribution andthe BS5 Encore has always been sold as a "stand alone product" ...
Just to "transform" AUDIO in both directions you need HQ D/A as well as HQ A/D converters and a ML interface to feed to or to receive from the ML-System.
For DATA communication, similar to a ML-Gateway, you'll have to translate the ML data to an IP-based format and v.v.
Chris Townsend: 3 days to go, and i hope its not too much of a 10 beater considering my recent purchase of it
As my Dad rightly said, it's only a TV and they all show the same programmes. Ok, slightly base in his thinking, but to be fair, he has a very valid point. How an*l do we have to be to upgrade to a new TV within a year, simply as it has a slightly improved picture? Nothing else about the BV11 will interest me - I don't want my TV to be my computer replacement, for example.
My three year old BV7-40 MKIV was only a fraction below this current BV10-46 for picture quality. Indeed, some things were rendered better on the old BV7, thanks to the BS3. So I don't expect the BV11 to be a huge and sudden visual improvement over our <9 month old BV10s. Trust me, picture quality hasn't come on leaps and bounds in the last few months.
Besides, as you've said yourself, there are far bigger improvements due in the next couple of years: OLED, 4K Ultra-HD and so on. These kinds of technologies will offer a much bigger jump than a simply panel swap out over a period of a few months.

Please please please let there be the spike feet available just like on the BV10 & BV5!!! These round aluminium stands are really early 90s!!! It's only thing that I really hate on B&O designs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
B&O PLEASE don't ruin a beautiful looking TV!!!

There will be. Don't panic. Spike feet options are available.
Looking at the pictures, this is exactly how my dealer described to me many months ago. Looks like a plastic frame? Or is that painted metal?
Thanks Moxxey! Relief!!! Still can't believe the BV10 is gone though - their most iconic design - surely this is the design that they are most proud of?
Hey Chris,
How is it much better on the BluRay are you meaning the sound or in general the picture? Big shame if the iTunes picture isn't as good
Chris Townsend: Ps watching Prometheus from a Blu Ray disk, is much better than the ITunes HD version.
Ps watching Prometheus from a Blu Ray disk, is much better than the ITunes HD version.
Of course Chris. Better bandwidth, less compression etc. Streamed HD can't beat Blu-ray. Blu-ray audio is better, too. Uncompressed HD audio.
Paul W: How is it much better on the BluRay are you meaning the sound or in general the picture? Big shame if the iTunes picture isn't as good
Paul, the HD video on iTunes (or any streamed) source is much more compressed than you'll get from a Blu-ray disc. The size of a "HD" movie from iTunes is around 3-4GB, whereas Blu-ray content is often around 20GB or higher. Less compression, fewer artifacts, improved uncompressed audio. In fact, Blu-ray knocks the socks off streamed HD content for audio quality.
Thanks for that Moxxey. Totally understand. I still favour the idea of iTunes for movies long term though :)
