Well , Tue is certainly aware of the gamers who are interested in B&O tv's ;
We want to provide our customers the same premium experience no matter whether they are watching TV, downloading a film, using the internet or trying out the latest video game.
BeoVision 11 has been designed to keep up with everyone in the family – and to keep them amazed, with nothing between them and their content – as technology continues to evolve in new directions.” says Tue Mantoni, CEO of Bang & Olufsen.
I just worked out the price in the UK too , £4800 for the 40"
For a bit of kit like this , that's really rather good value !
I can see this one being a smash hit
Welcome to the new avant !!!
Just see the BV 11 ! It's a beauty !
It's a BV10 + Deeper sound + internet ( with real websites) + Great APPS + iPad Remote + easy acces to HDMI + USB + 3D and....
A motorised wall bracket !
Perfect !
This is truly a TV one would like to have.
Now a TV with a great design and a lot of features. This is what is needed. Wonder if this will replace the BV7 also?
Hope the Smart TV will continue the development from B&O
It certainly sounds like a contender! Without getting too carried away, it appears to have caught up with the feature set of current TV competition, it seems like it's addressed the sound deficiency reported by some in the BV10 and the quoted prices make the older TV's in the range look comparatively poor value.
Oh, and it's still very pretty!
A significant step forward if all is as it seems and everything works as expected. Nice one!
Ban boring signatures!
Seems excellent - just back from the do at Newcastle. Better sounding BV10 but with smart features which seemed very easy to use. Also available with a hard disc. Lots of connections - I think 6 HDMI ports! Very impressive. And cheaper than the BV10!

I have, above?
Peter: Better sounding BV10..................
Not advocating anyone elses TV but I've just read that Samsung has added a Spotify App in their smart TV's. If / when it becomes available in the BV11 then the better sound starts to become a real selling point to newbie buyers who want a stand alone, one stop solution.

The sound was very good, but whether it's better than the BV10+BL11 combo, I'm not so sure. My dealer played a couple of tracks and it still sounded very flat to me. Better than the basic BV10 audio though.
The BV11 is a better design than the BV10. Now I'm back home and watching TV on the BV10-46, the speaker grille area looks massive.
I'm keen to view the specs on the B&O website as, if the speaker grille is smaller, surely the panel is lower? The BV10 panel is almost the perfect height for viewing from a sofa.
Snag is, if I trade my BV10-46 against a BV11-55 (and it's still a big if), it would only be £2000 less than the deal my dealer gave me on their BV12-65 with BS3. I'd lose a lot of money from my BV10-46 purchase trading it in. Dealer is right in saying that a) users will want the BV11-46 not BV10-46 and that b) the lower BV11-46 price brings down the trade-in value of the BV10-46, even though it's only months old.

Snag is the BV3 / BV12, better picture quality outstanding, starts to look very old compared to the frontline specs of the BV11 - the panel is fine but the BS3 is looking more like an antique in features terms. Close in price now, massively different at trade in I would imagine!
Will a "BV11" featured, stand alone panel processor become available for BV12 panels?
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
Just in from the Dublin launch and I am impressed !
Chris Townsend: Whilst on the subject of cosmetics I'm quite convinced there is a cushion obsessed female knocking round Struer, responsible for the littering the place with these awful browns and greens. Ie the green frets, and the brown V1's. I hope it stops.

I'm with Moxxey here - in the last year or so there's been the BV10, the BS8, the A8, the A9 and now the BV11....................it almost seems that none of these products have matching available fret colours............................................is it just me (and Moxxey) or are B&O smoking drugs??? Why would you sell an umpty thousand pound TV and then sell all newer products with non-matching fret colours????
Come on, get a grip, it's bad enough getting bad press for stuff that's difficult to fix but for stuff like this, it's criminal!!
Puncher:Will a "BV11" featured, stand alone panel processor become available for BV12 panels?
Indeed ... also needed for projector support ? or are they letting that go with devices like the Oppo providing two outputs ?
Can't see the specs yet ... B&O site not updated
Want to find out more about the new network and connector box -- these will help me make my decisions, as will what the iPad App looks like, and I need more screen shots of the UI than in the Pocket.Lint article

I disagree with that Puncher. The BV12 or BV11 simply needs to show a great picture for me. I don't need the 500GB hard drive (Sky+ box handles that), the smart TV features and other components. They are all gimmicks to me. I simply want the best picture for my buck.
The BS3 has 4 x HDMI, the BV11 has 5 x HDMI. How many HDMI sockets does one need? Does that extra socket make so much of a difference?

I do agree with you there though. I suppose you could have a bright yellow fret on your A8, a brown fret on your A9 and a blue fret on the BV11! I wanted orange across all my components and that's not possible. The orange fret receives the most comments from other people.
Chris - I agree with you on the picture quality. As I said in my PM, the picture on the dealer's BV11-55 was *worse* than my BV10-46, probably because they were streaming content via wifi and it was showing artifacts. Sound was better, gimmicky components better, but picture was definitely no improvement.
I'm not saying I wouldn't like a BV11 - clearly it's a step up from the BV10 - but it's not worth trading in a BV10 and losing thousands of pounds in the process.
moxxey: Does that extra socket make so much of a difference?
Does that extra socket make so much of a difference?
I think it does to people who like to tick boxes.
Smart TV that is nowhere near as good as connecting a MAC Mini - Check
6 HDMI which I will never use - Check
Hard disk recorder that will never get used because Sky, Freesat, Freeview are all better - Check
3D, which is just a bit crap - Check
People buy stuff off tick lists these days. They don't care about the picture, sound, build quality, the ability to set different picture enhancements per input, the ability to set different sound settings per input, the ability to set different levels of power saving based on the time of the day.
I think this has the potential to be B&Os best selling TV ever, the design, picture, sound and some of the features are amazing. It's just a shame they have been forced to include 3D, Smart TV, HDD recording etc by consumers who want to tick boxes.
I agree with Puncher & Moxxey when it comes to the colours!
Yes, just like Moxxey I need the orange fret. Ready to buy the BV11, just need B&O to release that orange grille or it's a no no!!! (was thinking I may have to have a white one professionally stained orange???). I can't understand the colour dept' at B&O if something is successful, why delete it?
I agree with Moxxey, I don't need the hard disk recorder or Smart options but hey, great design & performance & the maximum price that I was ok to spend :)
Quite frankly, perfection!!!
It is obvious to me that the BV11 smart tv is actually the same as in my samsung tv. Not very nice actually and it looks just as on the samsung, but black. Not even exactly the same shape and font that B&O use in the rest of the tv. A bit strange if you ask me.
It has 5 hdmi down with all the other connectors and one hdmi, usb and headphone jack in a flip-cover in tne center at the top on the back of the TV. The system is very much like the V1 but has smart tv and a pc-feature. Didnt look to much at that. Quite good sound. I love the motor wall mount. Quiet and cool.
looks much like the BV10 but thinner. Good cable guides on the back. Interesting way they mounted the speakers, the treble and midrange over the bass unit on each side. Treble outside, midrange in, woofer below. Alot of holes thru the glass (probably for ventilation?).
The connectors looks just as on the V1 but upside down (connectors down). Five Powerlink RJ45 (10 speakers out), 3 PUC RJ45 (total of 6). One RJ45 for external IR-EYE, Two "control" RJ45 and one "monitor control". Perhaps for the stand, not sure. Total of 2 usb inputs. Same AV input as on the V1 for analog inputs. No masterlink built in as already known. Felt just like using the V1 but with a few other settings. The Smart tv feature can probably give a few nice things but I thought it was quite slow. Tried the Beoremote but I am a bit upset that they didnt make a iPhone edition. Who wants to sit with their iPad all the time?Sound quality it is very nice. I like the contrast glass and it all seems very good.
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
Gotta agree with Michael on the app - Please bring out an app for the iPhone!!! I don't have an iPad and I really don't need one :)
elephant: ... also needed for projector support ?
(At the moment ?) The BV 11 does not support a projector - no "Cinema Module" available.
elephant: Want to find out more about the new network and connector box
Connectors: 1x ML socket standard version1x ML socket in version RJ45 (as an alternative socket for newer installations)1x Power1x Network Link = Ethernet to the switch/router also for internet2x USB 5V 0,5A

Paul W: Simply perfect in every way!!! This IS the BANG&OLUFSEN that i've been waiting for. I'm really not bothered that it is a smart TV as I will simply connect an Apple TV box to it and stream all of my iTunes content to it! Reckon that I will be keeping this for a good 10 + years!!! It's art!

Well, well - that's news...You want to buy at tv -and even a quite big one..?Once you wrote, that you find large screens offensive..(!) And people who bought them seemed uneducated... (yes -you wrote that)Just two months ago you wrote this:

How someone could have a 32" TV in their kitchen is totally shocking to me - are they weaned on TV?
... i've never known a student that owned a TV, it's all laptops these days! Same with the majority of my friends. As a marketing man, i'd love to see which demographic buys a television these days, i'm guessing the family man, couples and senior citizens.
(end of quote)What had happened..? Have you become a family man? -or a senior citizen? Or just wiser..?
Steffen, you really don't have a life do you? Are you really that bitter? Very sad, very very sad!

I'm not bitter...I'll just remind you of your constant self contradictions. Do you deny what you have written before..?

I am a nearly senior citizen, I live with my wife, and I am a family man. And my son is kind of "funny" guy, he is a student (Mathematics and international business) and he has a 32" in his dorm room.
Here my 32" in my kitchen
And here my 42" in my living room, and not B&O, I will never ever give USD 10,000.00 out for a TV when I can get more or less the same for USD 500.00
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Tues introduction of the eleven
I just hope that people read the previous postings too, so they don't think that I wrote the quote below (written in bold):

The only slight niggle is the lack of a built in blu ray player ( to show off the 3d feature )Apart from SKY 3D how else will you use this amazing ( irony alert ) feature ? Unless B&O are bringing a separate one out !?!?
Excellent bit of kit though - looks like B&O are going back to their everything including the kitchen sink feature set from the good old days mindset.
I can see this one flying off the shelves
The BV11 page is up on B&O's website now:

I think there's a lot more here than the just smart TV and hard drive recording (even the extra HDMI socket)! This could almost be Genesis in terms of B&O's digital-based future. It's probably the vinyl / CD moment for their TV's, and possibly a more important step than the move from CRT to flat panels. I personally would be very wary of buying a BS3 now if I was concerned about it's future trade in value.
Puncher: I personally would be very wary of buying a BS3 now if I was concerned about it's future trade in value.

Well, my dealer has made it clear that he wouldn't want the BV12 back in any future trade-in anyhow.
But I think the days of getting good value on future trade-ins is over with B&Os new replacement policy, irrespective of how many HDMI sockets your TV will posses (BS3 or no BS3). The BV10 isn't exactly old, but now it's redundant and my dealer made it clear that the BV11 will badly affect the BV10's trade-in value.
We don't know what B&O is planning for a year or so. Say OLED does start shipping this December as planned, we may see a B&O OLED TV in a year or so - quickly making any BV11 purchase redundant. Far worse than buying a BS3-based TV now. A new improved panel will make a huge difference over the addition of one or two extra HDMI sockets and smart TV features. I don't feel compelled to walk to my dealers this morning and upgrade to a BV11 for a couple of extra sockets and a few apps. I would be very compelled if there was a sudden improvement in picture quality....which is the primary reason for spending £10K on a TV.
The BV11 doesn't offer an improvement in picture quality. In fact, the BV11-55 had a poorer picture, for Freeview HD and streamed "HD" Apple TV content, than my BV10-46. This might be to do with the larger panel (bigger pixels), but it definitely wasn't an improvement. And the BS3-based BV7-55 has a better picture than the BV11, in my opinion. So does the BV12. And picture quality supersedes extra sockets and connectivity for me.
I'm not sure if it was the dvd that was playing but i wan't that blown away by the 11-55, to therefore trade in my 10-46. Unfortunately there was a 7-55 playing round the corner, and that really is that much better.
Most of the Apps and features i can access through Apple TV and the PS3, so not for me(probably)
A great new addition to the product list though. Cheaper, smarter and thats got to be a good thing.
