I'm confused. My dealer returned from a dealer conference last week and I asked about forthcoming new products. He said there is an iPad controller and the new entry-level B&O Play TV due soon. No mention of any BV11.

Where would this BV11 sit in the range? Or is this the B&O Play TV (which is only rumoured to be called a BV11)? If so, why would it have more HDMI sockets than my top-of-the-range BV10-46?

From my information it´s called BV V35 it´s part of the BeoPlay brand. At this moment there is 3 discussions about the new entry TV, more if you count the old forum. Information started last autumn so far not a lot of real news.

BeoPlay V1 is the name, I've been told. It's definitely NOT going to be called Beovision 11.

This match what I heard. Saw a sneak pic of the set. An "industrial" look.

Speaker fret can be changed to different colors. Can be hanged from the roof or wall. Shell is probably lacquered metal. No aluminum.

I'm wondering if  they use the same loudspeaker construction just like the beovision 10.

The V1 is as Moxxey says one of the new products - BeoPlay. The BV11 is also coming...

Not according to my dealer. He knew nothing about a BV11. He said that the BV11/Play V1 were both one and the same (ie. some dealers refer to the V1 as the Beovision 11). And he's just back from a dealer conference and is very open with B&O's future plans.

What I am guessing is that a TV takes a long time to design. The beo play range has been created only recently, so it is likely that the bv 11 has been moved to the play range and renamed.

And the new TV is not a BeoVision - thats the whole point of the B&O Play range.  BeoVision refers to the Bang & Olufsen core range of televisions - B&O Play is specifically not going to try and be BeoVision.  Its a standalone tv for a different customer profile, but with B&O values and build quality.  And made in Denmark before anyone asks!

well BeoLit 12 is B&O Play too and BeoSound 8 too.... I know it´s B&O Play not Bang & Olufsen but can´t see why it can´t be called BeoVision.....

But what´s it like Martin? Tell us something new.....

Only dealers know the answer to that. It looks somewhat similar to a Cinema Display crossed with a BV10. My dealer simply said "it's something you'd expect to see in an IKEA catalogue", whatever that means.

Official launch date for the V1 is 2 May and B&O will be promoting from the end of this month, to try and seduce people planning on upgrading their TV in time for the Olympics and Euro 2012, this summer.

B&O are also planning UK/European deals for the BV7 and BV10 through May & June (free speakers, discounts etc).

Can you compare it with the BV8 range?

At last, potentially some effective marketing and promotion from B&O. I only hope this is not just wishful thinking.

Thanks moxxey!

I've heard the sounds great, as is the picture. Neo Plasma ???

Hopefully not as good as my imminent 10-46 that's £6,000 more, but that does come with a Beolab 11 but hey.

Still get one though. May the 2nd says Moxxey. I've got a bloody tax bill to pay so I guess I will have to post you all from the debtors prison.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

I'm going off my BV10-46 a little. Love the design and the ability to change the frets, but that has started to wear a little thin. The problem is, the sound isn't good enough (after owning a BV7 for years) and the visuals good, but not superb. After viewing the BV7-55 and BV12, the colours on those TVs are much more vibrant.

Or.....maybe I'm trying to convince myself to purchase a BV12 :)

2 May says B&O. That was from an official marketing document from B&O (about the BV7/BV10 marketing campaign for a summer of sports). But, we all know B&O can move their release dates backwards on a whim!

I was trying to hold out for the bv11 but buckled and brought a 2012 panasonic 50gt50 plasma tv, it has one of the best pictures i have ever seen black levels are deep motion quality is outstanding. Hopefully when this new Beoplay tv is released i won't have buyers regret.

That's a very bizarre statement!

You are going off one of the best TVs money can buy, because the sound isn't as good as the TV you owned previously, which is the next model up in the range, and also because the picture on 2 TVs that cost twice as much (so the price of a small car extra) have a better picture?

It was supposed to be slightly tongue-in-cheek. I guess you didn't get it. I was trying to say that since seeing the BV12 - and frankly it is superb - I have my heart set on the TV. Less bizarre than some of your replies Rednik :)

Youret tonque in cheek comment may not be interpreted as such by everyone who reads it, especially people who don't speak English as a first language.

End result is then people who come here looking for information, about products they are thinking of buying, believing that you as a buyer, are unhappy with the sound from your BV10.

The less people who buy B&O products after reading this forum, the less likely you and I are to be able to buy the products we want in the future.

This site is a fairly small community where most of the regular posters can read between the lines of each others posts.  My personal opinion is that people should also consider how their posts could be interpretad by a person who has just googled B&O and landed here for some research on a potential purchass following their first store visit.

That's the perceived wisdom I agree, but only this week I was viewing some sets side by side at a dealer's. It was a Spanish soap I think that was being shown, and the Panasonic images were markedly more 'soft' than the adjacent Samsung and Philips displays. More importantly though I think, there were some interior scenes where sunlight was shining into the house and falling on the heads and shoulders of the actors. On the plasma screens this appeared to be just a more lighter shading  whereas on the LCD/LED sets it actually looked like the bright sunlight it was. This quite shocked me as if I was watching this particular scene at home on the plasma, I really wouldn't have noticed the sunlight effect at all.

I realise this is not a very scientific test but it did concern me that the plasma display failed to highlight some aspects of the picture compared to the other sets. Of course I have no idea how the plasmas were setup and I have no doubt that picture adjustments could be made to 'tweak' things.

Finally, on the plasmas, the blacks were definitely very black and the suits on the men in the scenes were deep black but dark grey on the other sets. Now of course I have no idea what was the actual real colour of the material, but there was a big difference. To be honest though, I saw more detail of the material on the grey suits, than I could see on the black ones which were, well.........just very black!

Well i never go by shop settings but at the moment the picture quality on my tv is simply amazing with subtle adjustments here and there it is providing the perfect picture.

It's looks similar to the beovision12, obviously not a bv12 but similar. Colours are rich and vibrant shadow detail is another hightlight and it also has thx day and night settings.

It's already won a few awards already and is the tv to beat in 2012 i also wanted a bigger size but i was told by the dealer that the beoplay tv would only be coming in 32" and 40" i was also told that it won't have a anti reflective glass screen as it would add significant expense to the price.

So just to future proof myself i thought that the panasonic would be the better option for me. Does anybody know if theres any pictures of what this beoplay tv looks like?

At the moment the rumor is that the BV11 does not have a masterlink, powerlink, DSS. Doesn´t the BV6 started the same way? First there was no way to connect any B&O speaker to the BV6?

I`m really hooked on B&O stuff, but I will definitiv pay not more than 4-5k for a telly.

In the end the BeoVision 8000 had Surroundsound and Powerlink... So I really hope they don't make the same mistake with delivering a TV without surround or possibility to add additional speakers. Having a TV with 5 (?) HDMI's but no additional speaker connections? I don't think so..

Koning,

but I does not have a masterlink. So I`m not able to connect my Beosound4. So I would be a littly chunky to build a cycle of my BL9 frontspeaker + BL4000 rearspeaker for the telly by using the DSS and by using the same speaker for the BS4. Never heart it is possible.

B&O PLAY items are designed to be standalone devices, and are not really meant to be a competition for Bang&Olufsen products.

This TV will be targeted at people who want an elegant TV but are not going to integrate it in a link setup. After all, that's how all other TV on the market are conceived.
