whats the best way to wire up beolab 5 with a stander cd player with digital coaxial output and do i need the beo4 remote to turn them on
Yes,
Use spdif input and option 1.
Then you will need the beo4 to turn the speakers on and to control the volume.
Thanks for your reply but what is spdif input
It's the digital input on the beolab 5.
SPDIF is the name of all coaxial digital inputs and outputs and stands for (Sony/Philips Digital Interconnect Format)
In the most basic terms as outlined by Tomas, you will need two digital coaxial leads, the first to run from your CD player digi coax output to you first speaker digi input, and the second cable to run from your first speaker digi output to the second speaker digi input. Each component must have power.
A Beo4/5/6 is required to turn the BL5 speakers on/off and to control volume levels, and the correct option setting must be made as outlined by Tomas too.
You'll also need a sync cable http://soundsheavenly.co.uk/bando-lab5sync.htm
Are you researching ready to purchase a pair or have you bought a pair without instructions?
If you are using more than only one digital source - like a computer, airport express, dvd-player, or else, than you can use a cambridge DacMagic (or the Plus Version) for us this as a "digital hub" for the Beolab 5. That's the way i use my BL 5.
And yes, how already described in the topics before, use a sync cable and bring teh Beolabs to Option 1 or 4 (see manual)
