Will this change our way of listening:
http://wimp.dk/wweb/specials/lossless/?gclid=CLKjpLq6w7kCFZN6cAod_2UAJg
We surely could reduce our hardware - a iPad/Playmaker/BL-combo is all we need - or the iPad/ATV on the BV.
Adieu CD-player and NAS - adieu iTunes!
???
Greetings Millemissen
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Funny that they announce the world's first lossless streaming service, as Qobuz.com do that for months!
The only thing missing to get rid of all your heavy stuff is a service like spotify connect in lossless...
diisign.com
Qobus, yes - if you are in France!
Agree - but will that ever be? Spotify seems to go the mainstream-route.

Eh, Qobuz is available outside France. I've enjoyed lossless streaming from them for years, in Norway ...
Well, new to me!
Their homepage is french.
Do you - perhaps - use a french proxy server?
I heard 'rumours' that they are starting out in different contries november this year.
Please explain if you know more.
But it doesn't affect my initial question.
Feel free to read 'Qobuz' instead of 'WiMP'.
Millemissen:Will this change our way of listening: ... adieu iTunes
It probably will not change our way of listening - but it might change the quality of convenience-oriented playback systems.
And I wouldn't write off iTunes just yet...

and stories like this have been floating around for some time...
Cheers

Millemissen - you'll find a choose language button in the upper right hand corner.
You can listen to Qobuz from a number of nations, you can download content to your mobile devices, etc. No problem at all.
Been a member for several years - the lossless stream is excellent, and the selection is large, including many versions of the same recordings. And no need for a French proxy server.
soundproof: Millemissen - you'll find a choose language button in the upper right hand corner.
You mean the 'Google Translate-button'👻
Thanks for the info anyway - I think I'll give WiMP a try....
...stop ripping my CD's and maybe even sell my NAS.
Haven't bothered with looking into WIMP, since I'm very satisfied with Qobuz. Particularly with their 24/96 downloads, and the fact that I can put music on mobile devices, and easily change the playlist of what is made accessible on them.
They're pretty serious - down to even making available a calibration download for two-channel playback.

How - if at all - did the opportunity of streaming all the music you want to in uncompressed quality change your attitude to music/music-listening..
Are you consuming more?
Do you 'shop' more, because you now can have it all (the 'buffet-mentality').
Are you listening to albums more than once (if you are an album-listener).
Has your taste of music changed?
Do you enjoy music as much as before?.
Did you change your equipment? No CD-player - no NAS?
And more........
These are questions I wanted to hear answers/opinions to.
When we don't 'own' the music anymore, in some way or another our attitude to music will change, I guess.
Hi Chris,
But what if you could just move in (and out), whenever you would like to?
Would that be different?
Millemissen: @soundproof How - if at all - did the opportunity of streaming all the music you want to in uncompressed quality change your attitude to music/music-listening.. Are you consuming more? Probably couldn't consume more music, as I'm voracious in that respect Do you 'shop' more, because you now can have it all (the 'buffet-mentality'). I listen to more varied music, and a lot more recordings/versions, and I find it very engaging to easily be able to compare versions of classical recordings, for instance. Interestingly, Qobuz and other streaming services have enormous catalogues of classical and jazz acoustic. Are you listening to albums more than once (if you are an album-listener). I love vinyl, and the album habit has stuck. I rarely listen to just one track of something. Has your taste of music changed? I prefer acoustic music, in any category - with little post-prod, and that's what takes up 90% of my listening. Do you enjoy music as much as before?. I have excellent sound systems - and enjoy music wildly. Did you change your equipment? No CD-player - no NAS? Haven't spun a CD in at least two years, and when my NAS gave up the ghost three years ago, I didn't bother with replacing it. And more........ These are questions I wanted to hear answers/opinions to. When we don't 'own' the music anymore, in some way or another our attitude to music will change, I guess. Well - I do own about 6.000 vinyl records ... and crates of CDs, that have been taped shut. MM

Maybe I wasn't clear enough in my postings?
After I have started using Spotify, I certainly have noticed some changes in my music-listening behaviour
As you know Spotify (Premium) is 320-quality - this is the reason why I still use my CD- and FLAC-collection, when I sit down for 'heavy-listening'.
I use Spotify more for exploring and for background listening.
But I definitely use my CD/FLAC-collection less than before, and have stopped ripping my new CD's?
If WIMP (Qobuz or anything similar) brings me the lossless quality i want, I probably wouldn't need my 'own' collection anymore.
I would need no CD-player, no NAS anymore....
My setup would change - probably I would end up with my Playmaker and a pair of good speakers (for each room) and my iPad.
If this is the reality for other B&O-owners too, will B&O ever need to bring out a new 'audiosystem' - and if, how should it look like?
Thanks, soundproof.
Your answer came, when I was writing my last post.
I love spotify, I have used it for about a year now. I used to spend about £30 a month on iTunes new music and now I spend £10 on spotify. To be honest I used to buy albums and I listen to them for a week or two then they sit on the virtual shelf like old CD's.
spotify is streamed from my ipad to my airport express on atape2 and via ML around my house and it's wicked I just wish there was an app for the blackberry z10.
i subscribe to about three playlists that are updated weekly to contain the latest chart music. That's all I need really.

Tonker:I have just downloaded the app, and looked at their service. If I'm right the 9 euro per month is a 320 mbs download quality just like most of Spotify, but the real stand out service is the CD quality service at 29 euro per month. Looking at it from the English speaking world, the site can be a clumsy at times whilst it constantly tries to translate, and when I selected pop/rock it came up with country and western! Beovision 11-46, Beovision 8-26, Beovision 3-32, Avant RF 28, Beosound 8, Beolit 12, Beocom 2, Beotime, H6 and Form 2, Beo 4's and a 6.

HI there
Spotify allows you to use your facebook login or create a seperate login.
i opted for facebook and then just disabled the auto posting from within spotify and updated the application privacy settings within faceboko to read only never post etc.
Hope that helps a little
I just declined the request for a link to facebook. There are actually people who aren't on fb, and they are still capable of buying streaming services.
