I recently picked up a late model Beovision MX6000 to be used for retro gaming and laserdiscs. Looking through the service menu there doesn't seem to be much of the way in options for calibration.
Also can anyone explain the function of the panel in front of the screen? I'm guessing it is a contrast panel of some description but wonder if it is harming the brightness of the output from the tube.
Does anyone have any further information or experiences of having these older models cailbrated?
I admit to being somewhat disappointed with the TV at present. I have a Loewe CRT of similar vintage which was calibrated last year and it has a far better image.

I believe what you see is the rather disappointing quality of the internal RGB signal switching in the later, dual SCART MX models (I presume you have connected the console via SCART, in RGB mode). It's fine for the smaller models, but for 28" the bandwidth simply isn't enough and the picture becomes soft and bland when compared to composite signal input from either SCART or the internal RF tuner.
The Y/C input is much better. If your console has such an output, try it. It's noticeably sharper and colours more vivid than with RGB (also, the regular user mode saturation settings actually have effect with Y/C inputs).

Ok thanks for the tip. Only two of my consoles do not use RGB output so this set might not be what I am looking for really.
