I have just recently purchased a beogram 5005 on ebay, tested it out with a couple of old scrached LPs was sticking every so often thought it was the condition of the old albums just purchased an audiofile top quality new album and still have the same problem a bit worried I have bought a bummer and will cost me more to repair than I have paid for it.

What stylus/cartridge are you using and did you set the correct stylus weight for that particular model??

I would suspect the stylus is worn, most are when bought on ebay!

So, what cartridge is it and what stylus weight is it playing at???

Does it stop at the same point  in the record every time?

The cartridge is MMC4, but  not sure about the tracking weight, but slider is set on the heavy side

Try checking the service manual of the 5005 on Beoworld. You need to upgrade your membership to have access.

There maybe some phsical interference to the travel of the moving carriage. I would operate the deck with the lid openand see if anything could be spotted. May just be dried lubricant but I doubt it.

With the deck in standby, the carriage can be pushed sideways by hand (careful of course).
It should be able to move its full travel without restrictions. I suggest you try this and let us know the result.
