Hello Beofolks!

I have just received a Beogram 8002 purchased from Denmark ( I live in Norway) and I have a problem right away: After pressing 'Play' the platter starts spinning and the arm comes out and find the correct place to start. But the arm never lower itself down to the LP, It just stays in the upper position for half a minute or so, the platter spinning. Thereafter it starts to cue slowly towards the label, still in the upper position. Sometimes it travels all the way to the end/inner groove before returning to its resting position, but now and then it returns after maybe half distance. The light in the guiding arm is OK I think, it is shining down on the LP.

Is this a behaviour known to 8002 owners on the forum? And is it possible to fix this in some way? The seller told med it was serviced and 100% functioning, but now I don't know what to believe...

I am very gratefull for help :)

Ii's possible that the tracking force slider is moved to zero and that the arm is getting released but has no weight on it so it stays up? If so, if it is even slightly deflected towards the record label, it will track towards it until it reaches the area of the record's end where it will appropriately return to it's park position.

Sound like you may have a simple trouble! If this is the case, you should also consult the instruction manual and "zero" balance the arm to be sure the tracking forces on the settings will be right.

Thank you for Your answer!

I do not have the manual, I reckon it is possible to download from somewhere. If it's just a matter of adjusting the tracking force it should be quite simple :) I will post the result....

Long time since I worked with these, but as far as I remember this was a very common fault that had to do with the photo detection used for the cue-buttons in the keyboard section.
