Help please. B&O is driving me crazy. I have an iMac linked through wired network to the BM5. Through finder I can look at the HDD in the BM5. Previously I have been able to move files from iTunes to the BM5 by beoconnect and by drag and drop.

Ripped the new Andrea Bocelli CD on the BS5. Came up with  'Unknown Album' and 'Unknown Artist' had that before so I thought no problem. Went into the BM5 using Finder and located the album. Dropped the album into the Andrea Bocelli folder then renamed the album to 'love in portofino'. So far so good.

Went back to the BS5 but no album was showing. Looked further and it is still there under Unknown Album??

Went back to the iMac and sure enough the correctly named album was there in the A Bocelli folder.

How can the BS5 look at the data base in the BM5 and get different information than what I look at through Finder? It is one and the same data base or is it?

Any help with this would be appreciated as there is no logic to what is happening.

Hi,

The BS5 looks at the metadata to display the artist names, album names, etc on its screen, not the file names. This means that you can rename files as much as you want, if you don't change the metadata, it will still appear as unknown!

Metadata is all the information like genre, artist name, album name, year, cover art, etc that is embedded in each of your music files. You therefore need to edit it with software like MP3Tag on a PC (free) or Mediarage on the Mac (free as well).

Once you have edited it, it will appear on your BS5 without any trouble.

Good luck & let us know if you still have trouble.

Many thanks I will try it.  If you hear nothing then all is well.

Many thanks for the quick reply.
