Hi everyone,

I think I have a rumble problem with my beogram 5005  (using a MMC4) there seems to be a lot of noise on the run in groves on all my LPs.

I've made a recording of the problem so you can hear what I mean -

What do you guys think? Is this rumble? Could it be a worn stylus?

Thanks in advance,

Lee

Are the transport screws loosened, is the pickup weight correct, is the needle housing riding free of the record, did you recently change the platter belt.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Everything seems to be in good order: my copy of side two of The Wall (1979) is noisier than that. This is not rumble at all - it is called vinyl roar and it is normal. Sound is quite good actually!

Hi Soren,

Yes the transport screws are loosened correctly, the pick-up weight is correct (in fact its set slightly high, 1.5g seems to sound best to my ears) and no I still haven't ordered a new belt, but I plan to soon.

Hi Chartz,

That's re-assuring, I did have a feeling it was 'roar' but thought I'd get a second opinion, that copy of the wall on the sound byte is the 2011 re-issue. I have got the original but its much noisier. Thanks for that, feel much better now :)
