I guess this means the BV12-NG will have a very short life.

...unless B&O sees this as a strategic model and does a last time buy of inventory for extended production and service stock. They may not be in that kind of cash situation, so you are probably right.

Or maybe we won't see a BV12 MK3.

But a BV14 with OLED starting at 46" and then 55"..........

I doubt that.
If they continue with the BV 12 range, it will most likely be OLED. No need for B&O to make another range with LCD/LED.

Plasma has always been better than LCD/LED when it comes to Black level and natural colors.
The picture from an OLED screen is closest to Plasma. The problem with OLED has been that it - until now - has been too expensive in large format. But as the prices are falling, it makes good sense to let OLED take over.
I guess the only reason Panasonic stops making plasma panels is that OLED takes over it's place. They are not going LCD/LED-only like so many other manufacturers did.

Plasma screens has always been preferred among film enthusiasts.

The only large format OLED currently are 55" and they are curved.  Reviewers say this distorts the picture making the viewing experience less pleasant.  Also OLED suffer from burn in like plasma and CRT.  Currently these OLED screens are from LG and Samsung.  B&O buys LCD from Samsung so maybe they would go for their OLED?

More likely I would expect B&O to go for a 4K LCD screen.   These now are made in 65" and 84" sizes by LG and Samsung and are flat.  Samsung's 65"  retails for $4999.99 now.  This is very reasonable compared to the BV12NG.

Sad to see Plasma is going away.

But it's evolution I guess...

And when on a BV it will be $34.999.99. Yes - thumbs up

In the meantime you can use a BeoSystem 4 with any screen that you like and have the B&O Cinema and GUI experience. The screen will not auto adjust like a B&O would but it will turn on/off and auto switch to the correct HDMI. We are using this as a solution all the time!

Hi w5bno123,

your setup would be worth a seperate thread Stick out tongue

With pictures, if possible Stick out tongue

What do you use as center speaker?

How about the sound that goes to the 'any screen' via HDMI - is there a setup-possibilty to adjust that?

And more?

How are your experience with the picture quality in this case?

Will what the BSys4-videoengine optimizes be changed (or even improved?) by the videoengine of the non B&O screen/(OLED)tv?

Greetings Millemissen

B&O? 65"? OLED? £15K? Four words which don't necessarily add up, I'm afraid. It's pure cloud-thinking to believe you'll get a £15K 65" OLED soon. Even if you could buy a 65" OLED (you can't), it would be about £30K.

Remember that B&O is regularly a year behind regular panel production, too.

Just last week I installed a BSys4 with a JVC reference projector and BeoLab 14 5.1 kit for a customer. Everything looks incredible and sounds it too!

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

Yes, we can ;-)

Development is rapidly moving:

LG will bring new 55, 65 and 77-inch curved OLED TVs with 4K resolution to CES. The 77-inch was showcased at IFA 2013 back in September.

-but, you're right -we'll have to wait for B&O. And the OLED's are still expensive...But prices are dropping fast.

At CES in Las Vegas some brands presented TVs with 4K resolution with 50-inch for less than 1000 EUR:

Not all 4K tv's are OLED. I guess those at less than 1000€ are just LED. Though the two names are very similar, the technique behind is very different.

That is true.

But Beovisions are nor OLED neither 4K, just LED (or plasma) and 1K. And a little bit more than 1000 EUR. 😁

But the question I was answering was IF the next BV12 would be OLED -and IF there was 65" OLED screens...

Nobody knows about the next BV 12, but there is 65" OLED screens (and bigger) on the market.

-and I guess B&O will be making 4K tv's in the future...OLED or not.

For sure, nobody knows...

At the moment it's only time for dreams and hopes.

But the next BV 12 can't be an LED 1K (if price is more than 500 EUR).
